About to make an offer on Day Date off Santblanc...

Has anyone bought from Santblanc on eBay before?

I'm not sure if I am allowed to post links on this forum, but I want to buy this watch : CLICK HERE

It looks mint and I called and they described it as pristine with everything but warranty card. Would this be a good one to make an offer on, or wait until I see one on classifieds from a reputable seller? I wanted to make a purchase by Friday.

Decent price.. if that is the watch you are getting, looks good. If I may, I am skeptical of the bait and switch routine, though... fwiw, the warranty card is expired anyway, but still not what they call a “full set”

I know nothing of Sant Blanc, but would advise keep shopping

Just my .02

I've seen them around but never considered them. That DD has no papers/ warranty card from Rolex and comes with their own "warranty" just so you know.

Would you mind elaborating on how the bait and switch works for a watch? Swap out the case? Or the original band?

I’ve been eyeing a different day date in their eBay store. From what I know they are a reputable used dealer. For whatever reason their pricing has been creeping up these last few months. I would offer $15.5k and see what happens.

sure.. what I meant was, be sure the pics you see, are indeed the watch you are getting, is all. The watch in the pics look great and the price is very reasonable, so just make sure

And again, SB may be great, I have no experience with them. best of luck

Thanks. I'm looking at this one and the pyramid. Having a tough time deciding between pyramid and white roman. I guess it shouldn't stress my out too much because I can always swap dials?

They have been in business many years. I bought a GMT C from them in 2008, came with everything, including papers. Good guys. See if you can get the price down a few grand since it does not come with Rolex original warranty paper.

I have purchased from them. Seems like it was a WG GMT. It arrived as advertised and photos were of the actual piece. I consider them a TS. Happy hunting.

I’ve got a 118238 from them although I didn’t buy directly from them. Super clean watch.

Would someone take a look at this pyramid dial DD from them and tell me if anything looks off? I'm deciding between these two and would like more experienced eyes to point out anything before I call and discuss with them tomorrow. I'm sorry, I'm still fairly newby

Honestly love the pyramid dial DD they have for sale. Not only do I prefer that dial, I also find the watch to be in excellent condition. Looks very crisp IMO. I would go with this one if it were my watch! Actually, you are making me want to buy one just looking at it! Excellent choices, keep us posted! Hope you can get them to drop the price a bit more!

Do you notice any oxidation around the end links? That's the only thing I notice. It seems to have some sort of oxidation color around the end links meeting the case.

Also OP, make sure the President bracelet has all 23 links. Also found a very nice 118238 from Chase (great guy) you may want to look at. Comes with original papers as well.
Cheers!

Yes, I noticed it. I have a RG Daytona, see pic, that doesn't get worn much and it has developed the same hue. I like it, gives the watch a bit more character, but it may not be for everyone

Thank you for that tip. I will ask tomorrow. I am looking for post 2003 or else I would've bought that one in a heart beat from Chase.

I haven't heard anything negative about Sant Blanc but it seems a lot of their listings are without papers and/or box for a similar price as complete sets.

Not sure how big of an impact on resale that would have in case you decided to sell it in the future.

That’s been my hold up as well. I was warned by a close friend to make sure they aren’t swapping dials on pieces. It’s been a cause for concern in the past. Of course, it would all be Rolex OEM parts. I’m just sending a word of caution.

I ended up not going with Santblanc. Super sketchy owner. 3/4 of his listed watches he doesn't even have in stock. Completely unsure of condition and none of them have warranty card, original items.

Glad you ended up going with your gut on this one. I just didn’t feel right with them either. Vintage/neo-vintage is quite the battlefield.

I believe Chris Wiley is one of the owners, and he is active on this Forum. I also believe Watch Chest is also affiliated with Sant Blanc both on eBay and Chris Wiley is the owner ...

I tried to make an offer to the owner and he never got back to me. Nice enough on phone but no intent to negotiate. It was disappointing.
