Height without shoes and weight without clothes.

I’d venture to say that outside the NFL combine it’s not a big difference for the questioner though.

Barefoot height like the doctor would measure. I am 6'2 1/2 so I never minded the question.

I do think it's funny when people who are 5'10'' say they are 6 foot. It seems incredibly common these days. Even some of the most famous people think they can pull the wool over our eyes. You aren't fooling anyone and I surely don't go around judging people by their height.

Agree.

Whenever I go to the doctors office I always remove my shoes for height and take off my clothes before getting on the scale even when the nurse is screaming for me to stop.

But I think a person has to have standards and stand by them even in the face of sometimes vocal dissent.

That's actually very interesting to me, because I am 5'10". I claim 5'10", but when I say that, everyone tells me they thought I was 6'0". I guess 5'10" guys are picking up that ball and running with it.

I didn’t mean to pick on that exact number but one of my good friends who’s like 5’11” has never once said he was anything less than 6 foot haha

It’s no big deal of course I just think it’s silly.

My dad was 6'6", and as a kid, I remember him having to duck through every the doorway of our house. This was the 70s and early 80s when, in addition to that 6'6", he had another 4" of afro.

I used to be 6'2", but the VA now says that I'm 6'.

It's been so long since I was measured that I can't really remember, but I'm pretty sure that the VA just made a transcription error.

So, I tell people that I'm 6'2", but I add that I might have shrunk a bit through the years.

The next time I go to the VA, I'm going to make sure they measure me, so that I'll know for sure.

Me, too, Dan.

I spent 4 months on an LST in the Caribbean back in 1970 and not a day went by that I didn't bang my head on a hatchway or a pipe or something else.

Those ships were designed for a much shorter generation of men.

It's amazing how your head can find every low threshold. But those ships are the worst.

Apparently, you lose 10mm for every decade over forty. I was 6' 0'' my thirties and now in my early sixties am not much over 5' 11''.

6’10” here. Not a day goes by where I don’t get asked. I’ll try the 5’22” repose at times to mess with people. Usually followed up by asking if I play basketball. Nope. Either a professional miniature golfer or retired to see their faces figure those out.

5’10” in socks. Am expecting that to decrease over the next few decades.

I never understood the point of lying about your height. If it’s about dating, most women can eyeball 6ft and above accurately, especially if they’re particular about a man’s height. If it’s professional or health related, they’ll measure and note your real height anyway.

No, I was being serious. I find that alot of people give their height with shoes on. When I had my last physical the nurse asked me how tall I was and was astonished I was actually a bit taller barefoot. She said most everyone lies about their height. I wear orthotics and along with shoes I'm almost an inch taller and thought hey, maybe I should give my height with shoes on too......LOL.
