How accurate is 1861 movement?

I bought a brand new 50 anniversary Speedmaster from an AD a week ago. I am testing the accuracy of the watch in the box. The first day it was 10 s/day faster. Second day, it was 2 s/day slower. The third day, it was 2 s/day faster. Now, it is 2 s/day slower again. Will it run consistently after a while?

A lot of brand new watches need a break in period so I would not sweat it much.
However, if after a few weeks or so it is still all over the place I'd contact the AD.

Keep in mind that the 1861 is not chronometer rated, so a 2 seconds a day would be acceptable.

One thing I can tell you though is that the 1861 is pretty easily affected by the position of the watch over night. It is easy to gain or lose time, depending on how you leave it for the night.

Romi!

Congrats on your new "patchy"!!!

As far as its accuracy goes, I think you need to wear it... (well, you should
anyway... for it is such a nice watch, eh? ).

Also, I don't think the accuracy of a watch can/should be measured "in the box"...

In most cases, as Chip pointed out, a new watch/movement needs some sort
of a break-in period...

I bought my "patchy" in August 2007 and at first it was running a bit erratic.
But within a week of wearing it settled to approx 1.5 - 2 seconds per day on
the slow side...

x2 indeed!!

I leave mine dial-up at night and so it gains whatever seconds might have
been "lost" during the day... so roughly, at a week's end (when worn almost
constantly) it is at the above mentioned minus 1.5 - 2 seconds per day!

Congratulations again on your beautiful new Speedy!

& best regards

Petros

When I wear mine I notice it runs a bit fast...

Leaving it on the dresser at night with the crown up and it stays around 1.5 - 2 seconds fast......
