seems that PP has delivered a bunch of 5990s in ADs around the world. originally i thought that the watch was too thick for my tiny wrist but now i am like what the heck, i like the watch.....and i have already sent email to my AD asking whether he also got one:::)))) it worked last week with the 5524, i got it after some arguing with the boss of the AD:::))) he might be a little cross with me since i have just changed my order from the 5980AR to the 5980/1R but let us see what he says tomorrow.
btw, allow me a little diversion please...i like the 5524G more and more...but it already got a scratch:::(((
Jorge, i know what you mean with gold nautilus being scratch magnets. my 5711R is - after three months - already pretty scratched, bezel and bracelet. my 5712R (sold last week) had scratches on the bezel but the buyer did not mind and paid well:::)))

Yeah the 5990 is a lot of watch with a great price. Meaning is a Nautilus Chrono with a time travel complication! It took me too long to realize it, should of be in my radar before. if you think about it a gave a Chrono and I got another Chrono with an extra complication on top of it, in the hottest form currently available“ Nautilus “

Andy yeah gold Nauti is beautiful but you have to be really , really careful or don’t care like I said .

Sometimes when I see a 5712R , for a second I think man , looks cool but then I remember how I suffer trying to keep that bezel scratchless and think so glad is gone LoL

Exactly. You've hit the nail on the head with that comment. "Big and thick watches" are not Patek.

I wasn't asking for help. As someone else pointed out if I want a big and thick watch I can buy a Panerai.

As a collector I can appreciate other's tastes, likes and dislikes. I can see you are excited by this pick-up and I'm genuinely happy for everyone that shares a new acquisition.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, and I’m not trying to change that, but let’s put this into perspective.

The case diameter of the 5990 is in line with the rest of the Nautilus line.

In terms of thickness, I will disagree with you. Patek does do thick watches. I picked the 5960 out of curiosity to see how that compares as that shares the same base movement. The 5960 is 13.5mm thick and I don’t ever recall a comment on here that it’s too thick. The 5990 comes in at 12.5mm.

The 5990 is 100% Patek. I would rather Patek move with the times than become obsolete. And the great thing about Patek is they have a watch for every taste. More so than any other brand I can think of - and none of those are any more or less “Patek” than the others.

Yeah usually when someone has an incoming I say congrats , happy for you, looks great, or something like that. But in this forum there is freedom to express out your opinion, and if you like to say that you hate bigger Pateks on the day I bought one, that’s fine no problem.
Enjoy your day

Thanks Gus , I would say it’s a bargain considering for how much you can get a Patek Chrono.

I second that. Whatever comes out from Patek is Patek.
It's geared to different tastes. That's the reason why there's so many different threads in this forum.

True, it feels on my wrist like an average watch , average plus at the most. Now for Nautilus standards is in the thick side; this is the thickest Nautilus ever created, I believe
