London stock help

London based PP fans do any of you know a grey with both the 5990a and 5164a in stock, really want them both in one location to get a decent side by side comparison!

Thanks in advance

Yeah imagine you have a better PP stock then the majority of the city

Not sure my 15407st would be safe though...

You should reach out to PP. Utilize your house as the official London Gallery (for a small sum of course). I'm sure you can showcase more sport models than what PP is currently offering in the city

It's a risky ploy, hoping people on mass don't start selling privately instead. Our job at least on a public forum is to show up their practices.

Agree WF used to be a good outlet, pretty much paid what you’d get selling private without the aggro and just put their cut on top.

Now looking to be greedy! Last time I tried to deal with them they wanted to pay me less then retail on a NIB 5167a which they were selling a used one at a 5k profit over what they offered me!

IMO they are biting the hand that feeds them. They get the vast majority of their watches from private sellers like us. With an OK price i would be fine with selling to them for a bit less than i could get selling myself and avoid the hassle, and let them make their margin too. Now i probably wouldn't. So basically they are risking killing their inventory.

That TV advertising doesn’t pay for itself, you know!

they have gotten a bit out of hand though. Watches are going for several thousand more than last year and at the same time they are offering less to buy them since last year. They are getting pretty close to a monopoly and they are exploiting it.

Agreed that Watchfinder’s are now very greedy but so are all the others. I visited Burlington Arcade last weekend and noticed that the dealers there have now removed price tags from the watches in the windows. Watch Club which used to offer market prices is also now extortionate. I’m not singling out these though, all U.K. watch dealers seem to be capitalising on demand and have massively over inflated prices on stock and will offer you massively under market for your watch. (In my opinion)

For fun I'm going to submit pictures of my 5164 for a bid from WF just to see how ridiculous their spread is.

Anyone think it will be under 20K GBP? Mine's a August 2017 in excellent shape. They're selling one around the same age for 27,450 GBP.

I’d say that’s about right! They offered 21-22k on a brand new unworn one back in Jan.

20K sounds crazy low. Surely they'll pay more? Let us know.

im more curious on the 5711 spread. They still haven't put up the prices for the two they have. Now they have another one so someone recently flipped them one.

IMO that is the spread that is more indicative of a downward trend in buy prices because that is not a hard one to move.

I’m not up to date with my PP’s but try official watches and time4diamonds. I know the latter at least has PP stock, for a premium obviously

Both are slightly wide-boy outfits so deal with them carefully. It's why WF being so tight now is a real shame.

I talked with some other cent. London Greys and they were saying they didn't know how WF offered such good bids before as they couldn't compete, and I said they were volume dealers and name building before rather than margin players but that has obviously changed now as they are top dog in Europe now. The other greys are relieved at least.

It is worth checking at Swiss Time London in Mayfair. They tend to have in stock lots of pieces usually difficult to find on the grey market.

There are 4 or 5 in the UK around £25k, I think for sure WF will offer under £20k.
They will loose 16.67% of the uplift between buy and sell in VAT at the margin payments and they need to make a profit. Let us know how it goes.

Very good point on the VAT, which I think is easily forgotten. I believe VAT lost would be on the full amount (not the margin), assuming the seller is not VAT registered.

I sold my 2016 5711 Blue dial to WF in December and they paid me £29,750 and advertised it for £32,750. At the time they were by far the highest bid.
