5990. Only because i could wear it for pretty much any occasion and its far more of a do it all watch. My 5524 is more of an occasion piece. As it comes with the brown strap it doesn't go with my typical color palette. 5524 is probably more fun to wear though.

Having just seen the 5524 properly for the first time, I would have to say the 5990, unequivocally. And it was sitting next to Tyler's old AP RG too.

I may disagree but respect your opinion Jack. What Pateks do you seem to like if you dont mind me asking?

someone went to WF

Its an easily identifiable one with the GP strap, they seem content to let it sit though.

The Nautilus I like is all gold. Which is probably worst. Eg 5711. In SS, it actually looks boring to me. But in RG.... Wow.

OP - it's OK not to like Nautilus. We all have different taste in watches.

Guys, I'll mention it here so it doesn't go off like on the AP forum, but the new RG 44 is too RG and orangey all round, esp compared to the old Panda dial when put side by side.

Can someone tell me why the price of the 5711 on the grey market has been jacked up by a few thousand pounds/dollars over the last three weeks? Does that have anything to do with the rumour of a second price increase this year?

i have not heard these rumors. Another price rise for the 11 or the 12 this year isnt very likely IMO. If there is one it would be september 1 and we would know for sure aug. 1

But since im buying, it must be pink...because the last time with the AP, i chose the orange one.

I love the Nautilus and Aquanaut. But you don’t need to go outside Patek brand to find great value. Patek 5960 grey dial in Platinum for under $50K is a steal. Love the 5711 but hard to take it over 5960P for same price.

Saw it on a well known French forum and this member is usually quite well informed... Time will tell!

I think the Aquanauts are more likely to have one, otherwise there is quite a divide that Patek are creating.

While I do agree the secondary market is insanely overpriced, I find it worth every penny at retail when you compare the 5712 to its competitors. I think trying it on sells it at least it did for me.

I think its a mix of hype and the fact that the retail prices all went up almost 20%

The 5712 is an amazing watch and the retail price is (was!?) understandable. Just don't get it for the 5711.

While the current hype on 5711 (especially blue dial) is bordering on ridiculous, I do count myself lucky and thankful for owning the 5711 (white dial) for almost 1 year now. Getting even the white on on retail price is impossible now, without any relationship with an AD.

For these hysterical prices there are +100 watches I would prefer to own.

To each his own. So glad I don't see the artistic and aesthetic brilliance in the Nautilus.

I see a boring grey steel 1970s Airport disaster movie with Burt Lancaster.
I feel the same way but honestly can’t say 100% whether it’s true relief of not getting caught up in hyperinflation or just sour grapes!

Exactly, every good is worth what people are willing to pay for it.

Actually there was a CONFIRMED price increase from Patek in the EU and elsewhere as of March 2018. The price increase was 20% on ONLY the Nautilus series in SS , NOT in previous metal but that could be coming soon as well. All other models remained the same.

So glad I never Fell in Love with Nautilus

Patek has their head in the clouds when it comes to pricing. Can’t wait for Lange to put them out of business.
