Just for the record, I've got a couple watches based on the ETA 2824-2. Oddly enough, both run 10-15 secs. a day fast. I haven't attempted to get either regulated, still contemplating whether it's worth it or not.

Great review, Hamilton seem to make really great watches, I think my next watch will be the viewmatic, I saw one recently and it looked really classy in rose gold!
I really like the simplicity of your watch and love the numerals!

IMO, it's not worth it. Not when I can pull out the crown and stop the second hand and re-set it.

After seeing this review and the pictures of the watch, I am looking at the Alan Furman site. I am looking at the chrono model. Any thoughts or experiences with Alan Furman or the chrono??

I don't have any experience with either, but the chrono has the val 7750 in it I believe.

If you're patient, the chronos pop up on the bay every so often for around $500.

NIce review. Good looking watch and a great price! Hamiliton has a real history, especially with the US Military during WWII. LIke the new Khaki Chronograph as well. The red tip on the seconds hand is cool. THis would definately make a good beater watch.

Nice review, and a nice watch. I have a similar quartz Hamilton that I like, but doesn't get worn as much as it should. On days when my wallet is feeling the pain from a Rolex purchase (and I'm mentally slapping my forehead), I often think that if I confined myself to collecting Hamiltons and Swiss Army's, I'd be perfectly happy and much better off financially. They definitely hit the sweet spot in value for $$.

I have had a Hamilton Khaki King Auto with the diver bezel, and it would NEVER get "beater" use. I think we should restrict the term 'beater' to really nasty watches, or those made to be hammered - like the Casio models. It also is very degrading to the Hamilton brand. Personally, I think they make great watches regardless of price. My Khaki is as beautiful an any watch I own, and the little ETA heart beating inside is one of quality and durability.

Just because some of us own Rolexes doesn't mean we have class and taste.

My wife's 2000 Mustang which she's wrecked 10 times - now THAT's a beater! (of course - it's still running great considering she lets the sound of clicking valves tell her it's oil change time..)
