Do Model 6694 Oysterdates "tick"

I recently purchased a Mid 70's model 6694 oysterdate at an estate auction, I have verified the serial # and model # so i am quite certain it is authentic. My question is,since its movement is a manual wind, is it normal for the second hand to "tick" vice the "sweeping movement" that the perpetual models are known for. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I am new please be patient with me.

What do you mean by "tick"? If the second hand is moving one full second in each movement, then something is wrong.

If you mean you can see the second hand moving in 6-8 small movements per second, it is normal. All Rolex movements, including autos move in this way.

It has a slower beat when compared to the current high beat movements, so it may sound like it is ticking.

My Tudor did make "Tic-Tac" in 1961 and now it works in complete silence. My Yema the same. It proves that watches improve with time.

...maybe he lucked into a Tru-Beat movement by accident!
Seriously, it's OK for the sweep seconds to have a little visual stutter to it especially if you're used to the smoother action of more modern high-beat movements. But if it's extremely erratic and/or ticking only once per second, it's probably time for a service.
Best,
T.
