Questions about 1675 two-tone models
I have looked at various sources, but have not been able to find a definitive answer, so I'm turning to you with my questions. First when did Rolex start producing the "Rootbeer" two-tone GMT Master? What was the original bracelet: riveted two-tone or Jubilee? Did Rolex orginally offer the two-tone GMT on a strap as well as a bracelet in the U.S.? (I have a copy of an ad that lists a GMT with a leather strap and a GMT with a bracelet, so it would seem that both were available at one time.)
Thanks in advance for your help. |

I have all the catalogs as well and have asked several well known book writers etc and they all give there own opinion but without facts. The 2 tone 1675 GMT doesnt show up in any books I have until the 69-70 period. As for the strap bracelet question I think in that time frame it was different for different countries and an ad would have put whatever you wanted on it for you.

Thanks for your comments Nikos. I have thought that the two-tone was not available until the late 60s, and then originally available only with the Jubilee bracelet. What is the year of the earliest brochure that you have that shows a two-tone GMT? I agree with your comment that strap or bracelet availability varies from one country to another. When I asked an AD where I live if he could order a Rolex leather strap, he told me that I could order the strap only if my watch originally came with a strap and I would have to give him the old strap. However, I can get a Rolex strap from an AD in Canada.

1970 above.I have had original owners box and papers versions with both riveted and Jubilee bracelets.I am 100% sure if you wanted 1 with a strap back than you left the AD wearing it on a strap.

My newest Rolex Master Catalog is 1972. The GMT could be purchased then on a strap.
