after 2 years - to the weekend, I found my missing Sub bezel!

right after Memorial Day 2014, I made this post telling how I somehow managed to lose the whole bezel and insert for my 14060 while opening up the family cottage. It's been quite a process getting it replaced and fixed, ending this spring when Bob Ridley and son serviced the watch and correctly attached a aftermarket replacement bezel and insert I had purchased. Going the route of the Rolex Service Centers was just too expensive, even though I would have preferred to keep the watch complete with genuine Rolex parts.

Anyway this weekend (Memorial Day 2016 )while cleaning out a cabinet of old pots and pans....I found the original, still in perfect condition. I must have caught it on an edge of the cupboard and popped it off. Now if I could just pop the aftermarket version off, and snap on the original, I'd be all set. My worry is I'll lose the click spring and wont get it clicking correctly. May take it to the local AD for their guys to do it. They cant charge me a fortune for that, hopefully!

If you love something , let it go. If it returns to you...it was love that was meant to be!

Congrats on your find!

Let us know how you were able to put it back on....yourself or paid your AD to do it? Curious what a AD charges and also curious to hear how hard it was to do it the first time.

Put the watch in a ziplock bag and pop the bezel off. Any errant pieces will stay in the bag.

I've snapped the bezel off my 1680 a couple of times, just snapped it back on, no problem. Just be sure you have the circular spring on first.

Pretty easy to change with the right tool and patience. I do it all the time on my GMT. If you're worried, an AD or RSC should be able to do it in 10min.
