I have 4: my fav, a 16710LN, a YG DD, and 2 TT DJs. I also have about a dozen other brands (one of each). That's enough for me.

Gotta give props, you have amassed the coolest vintage Rolex collection I've ever seen.

If you don't mind me asking, do you have any modern references.

I'm pretty much an all-vintage guy. I have a DeepSea originally owned by a former Royal Navy Clearance & Comex diver with some good diving history, a couple of gold Daytonas, Dominos Pizza Air-King, some Datejusts, and rotate through modern steel sports watches...

Five for me (If you include my Tudor Sub). Are there really people with more than 200?

Not sure what I was expecting, but interesting results. I thought I would summarize them.

Still don't know what it takes to be a 1 percenter. (I only could have 10 options for the poll.)

But, apparently you have to have over 200 Rolexes to be one of the avid collectors.

If you have over 20 Rolexes congratulations you are in the top 7%.

I am going to extrapolate and say it takes a collection of about 17 Rolexes to be in the top 10%

Extrapolating again, I am going to say the median size of collection is about 4.

I wonder why there is such a huge gulf between the collections of 20-40 and the 200+, with only 1 sample.

I was not suprised that there were collections of 200+, as I mentioned before most watch "collections" that I know of are 200+, just not as expensive as Rolex.

Just because you don't know any, doesn't mean they don't exist...I would bet there are plenty all around you you never knew about.

Well first we would have to agree on the definition of a "collector".
2nd, I know all the sellers. And I am the only "collector " they sell to.
I am not in NYC, it is a very rare day that I see a Rolex on someone's wrist.
And I look, because I have bought them off of wrists before.

Don't need much more from Rolex. Nice collection! I would probably swap the Explorer 1 for a Exp II 1655, but I like the funky stuff.

I only have a Rootbeer GMT, so far.

Cool thread. I remember the first time seeing Mr. Woods collection. Unbelievable.

There are several that are active on this forum that have amazing vintage collections. I wish I would have found this forum a long time ago.

I usually stay between five and ten Rolexes. Down to four now since I traded off a few for the birth year gilt piece, but it was worth it, I have been looking for it for a long time. Nothing really on the radar right now, except maybe "upgrading" for a better example of a 1675. At some point I really should buy a dress watch....But everytime I buy one I end up selling it quick...LOL
