« Wrongwristing Official Thread

Hello,

I am always looking at the « WRUW » threads and barely sees anyone wearing their watch on the right wrist...

I am not afraid to say I do! We should step up and be proud of our weird habit!

Let’s see how many weirdos we can get together...

It has nothing to do with habbit...people are predominantly right handed hence they wear their watch on the their non dominate hand, the left wrist. Simple as that.

Right handed, left arm watch.
Isn’t this “the” normal?
Nice weekend to you all... great sunny day here in Portugal

10% of people are left handed and way way less watches are with a left hand crown. probably significantly less than 1% so even left handed people predominantly wear their watch on the left or just wear it on their right hand with the crown in the wrong place. that is weird.

its like driving a UK car in the US with the steering wheel on the wrong side. I wouldn't do it.

My son wears his watch on his dominant right hand.
He says that he likes it better there.

I just tried to put my watch on my right wrist. Not so easy, it almost fell down!

I am right handed and wear it on the right wrist. I used to wear it on the left wrist but once I got married I felt I didn’t want to have a ring and a watch on the same side. Don’t think she would have liked if I switched the ring on the right hand so the watch moved. Felt weird for a couple of days I remember but now this is completely normal for me. Funny thing, my Dad was (and is) wearing his watches on the right wrist and I used to tell him how weird it was. Can’t say than anymore

For sure the crown is in the wrong place but it doesn’t dig in the top of my hand each time I bend my wrist. Plus I feel it’s more secured here (more difficult to bang it in something). That’s definitely not the reasons why I wear it on the right wrist but it’s a plus for me I guess

I'm right handed, yet have always worn my watch on my right wrist.

Both my kids, also right handed, also wear on the right, my wife, right handed, wears on the left and used to wear face down.

I've tried wearing on the left, just feels completely alien to me, and for some reason, ever since I put on a watch, it was always on the right.

On the very few occasions I've forgot to put my watch on, I've absolutely hated the feeling of my right arm slowly rising throughout the day....

the irony is when a LH crown watch comes out a bunch of right handed people buy it because its odd.... Tudor for example.

I am left handed and wore my watch on my right hand for forty years. At one point I was fooling around and my watch on my left hand. My wife commented that it looked better there, she could see the profile of the crown guards and crown better. Been wearing watches on my left hand for the last two years. It took about 2 days to feel natural. The moral of the story? Does not matter which wrist you wear your watch on.

I am to spastic to be able to close a clasp/buckle with my left hand. Hence, it goes on the left wrist.

I've got a plate and screws in my right wrist after a severe fracture resulted from a fall from a second story while doing some rappel training. I'm right handed and thankfully suffered no ill effects from the surgery and always wore my watch on my left hand anyway. One year when going away on vacation I wanted to bring a second watch and didn't want to put it in my carry on so I decided to just wear a second watch on my right wrist. I quickly discovered that even with the diving extension opened, I could not close my sub on my right wrist. So I basically discovered that I can't wear my watches on my right wrist anymore so I'm definitely a left wrist only kind of guy.

This is a really timely post. I'm right handed and have always worn my watch on my left wrist. However I'm developing arthritis in the left wrist and have been considering wearing on my right. Following!

Left handed for eating, writing, wearing a watch.
Right hand for everything else.

Just realized I’m a weirdo.

AFAIK eating left handed with a fork is just correct... its more the american style to cut your meat with your knife in your right hand, put it down and switch your fork to your right.... that is flat out weird

forks are one the left of the place setting for a reason

I tried it a couple of times and it wasn’t too bad. Biggest problem, putting it on and taking it off.

Just an off the cuff observation; wouldn’t it be possible (and relatively simple) to rotate the dial in the case and put the crown on the left for those who wear their watches on the right wrist? A watch without a bunch of complications that is.

As a left handed person who wears their watch on the right wrist, I’m afraid I don’t follow your logic! I love the fact the crown is on the inside; this way it doesn’t dig into my wrist if the watch slips down.

There’s rarely a right of a wrong way ... just what suits the person!

+1 for being left handed and wearing my watch on my right hand. Guess I’m “weird”...

i would assume the crown is in a position where you can manipulate it when its being worn or when a chronograph can be engaged when being worn. those items are on the right side of the case. If you wear the watch on your right hand you really can't do those things as easily w/o the crown and pushers being on the left. From a practical position it's incorrect, from a preference point of view i guess it doesn't matter if that's what you like . Right hand watch wearers should have watches for left handed people, otherwise its less functional.
