It looks very localized. That dial is one of my favorites!

Now you have me worried, I am going to have to put mine under magnification and see what I can see.

Patina. Let it do it’s thing and it might just become a vivid, highly sought after piece one day. Most others won’t show layerful aging any more, I guess.

Got a good chuckle from this thread.
Iron rusting after years, go figure.
And only visible when magnified 10x’s, go figure again.

I would try enjoying the beauty of the dial without a 10x magnifier. My two cents.

Have to agree loupes timing apps can be in most cases a Rolex watch owners worst enemy.

3 year old thread. OP has only 49 posts. I don't think your going to see anything more on this.

I find most things look worse when magnified x10

Was it like this before or has it happened since you owned it?

I think it looks fantastic considering the dial is trillions of years old.

Yup.

I have an omega speedmaster with meteorite dial, I wonder if it will start rusting soon?

Thinking a bit about how moisture got in there. Seems like the seals must have failed. Rust doesn't happen without moisture present. I'd be more worried about the seals and moisture than the rust.

Easy DIY fix. Remove the back. Take out the movement. Very carefully spray some WD40 on it then wipe it off with a paper towel. Rust gone.

Let's hope it's not Lawrencite....I am speaking as a meteorite collector... it's the only reason I would not tend towards a meteorite dial although I believe the Gibeon Meteorite stock I think they use is pretty stable...I think it's Gibeon they use,

Not strictly true if it has a high nickel content... space rock stainless steel!
