The new 42mm SMP with wave ceramic dial, blue or black?

I went to Omega AD to check out the new 42mm SMP with wave ceramic dial. They only have blue dial version and it looks pretty nice. But I really wanted the black dial for comparison.

What do you guys think about blue vs black for the new 42mm SMP?

Black=boring.

Gotta be blue or grey.

Blue might get a slight nod on account of the red.

Skip the black. The world doesn't need another black diver.

I went with Black on bracelet and I love it. People who generally say black is boring have not seen the SMP black! There is something about the black ceramic dial with the waves, and catching the light. The black ceramic bezel with enamel injection. It's magical! You have to see it for yourself and decide.

I would vote blue if you have other black dial watches; I think that dial has a lot of depth and adds just a little color. But get what one you like the most, you are going to be the one looking at it the most!

Saw both black and blue at the AD and went for the black one. IMHO it goes with everything better than the blue.
Either black or blue is a winner anyway and boils down to one's preference.

I have held both side by side (both on the rubber straps) and chose the blue dial. The blue dial and wave combination looks so good IMO.

Some say the blue does not go with everything, but I disagree to an extent. The blue is not loud and in your face when under normal lighting inside or cloudy lighting outside, but it pops and looks fantastic in the sunshine. I just like that it's different from all other black dial divers and, IMO, is the one to get for the wave dial.

Do you already have a nice black dial diver? If so, go with blue. If not, I would go with black as I find it more versatile.

I went with black dial. Definitely not a boring watch with the ceramic wave dial.

Wouldn't mind owning the blue as well though. You could get both for less than the price of a Rolex Sub...

Black or Blue or Silver, worth every penny you pay for it. The bracelet and adjustable clasp is so awesome!

If I "had" to have both , it would be black on black rubber & blue on bracelet.

I would go classic, blue on bracelet. Seen both side by side, black looks a bit dull in comparison.

I was in your exact spot a few months ago. I bought the blue and ended up regretting it. I’ve since flipped it. My advice is go with your first instinct. It’s usually right.

It depends on what you currently have, what you plan to get, and what you want or what you think will work best, but blue is my choice for this watch. Still, it looks great in all three colors.
