I had a BLNR - And today I don’t. (14060)

It was by my own choice too.

I love the BLNR ... In photos online, on Instagram, in forum photos, etc. When I saw it I knew I wanted to have it. Until I didn’t.

It happened quickly. Maybe even a few minutes into owning it. I loved the BLNR but I hated it on me.

I should love it though. Everyone else does. ADs can’t keep them in stock. It’s going to be discontinued (maybe?)? I have to like it. It’s gone up almost 30% in value since I got it.

Nope. Still don’t like it. It’s chunky, bulky, not proportioned well - beautiful yes - but on my 6.75 inch wrist? No. You can’t fool yourself no matter how hard you try.

Took a year to figure out, but finally, I knew what I wanted. I wanted a 5 digit sports model with the newest movement I could get.

I found it.

A late 2011 - 14060m. B&P with sharp lines and in excellent condition. No solid end links, no maxi case, no bulky clasp. Perfect.

Some advice to those just starting in watches, don’t make the same mistakes I did. Just because everyone else loves something doesn’t mean you also have to. It’s not about the investment or the money. Just be true to yourself and your own taste and style. It’s the best advice I can give.

I think many of us have bought a watch because we thought we should have it. I did it with a Speedmaster. I was supposed to like it, but I just didn't.

Luckily for the BLNR you can almost breakeven or make a little profit when you part ways.

Congrats on the sub no date. I share exact same feeling as yours about the BLNR. Although I still have it, I much prefer to wear my 16710 Pepsi due to better proportioned case design

I won't go into details, but the same thing has happened to me. Sort of thought that I "should" love a watch because everyone else does (at least everyone on the forums), but it just didn't work for me. On another occasion, I sold three watches to get one, and owned it for about two weeks!

And kind of the same thing: A couple months ago, I ordered a Sea-Dweller SD43 from my AD. And I was terribly excited, even though I knew it would be a long wait. Then, just to fill in the time, I started researching other Rolex watches I was interested in. As it happens, I have been loving the 114060 ever since Rolex changed it to the bulkier case. There is so much hype about the SD43, and justifiably so, that I thought I should get the very best. In the end, I realized the 114060 is really the best for me. I suppose I am fortunate to have realized that before I got the watch.

So, I changed my order at the AD, and hopefully my 114060 will be here fairly soon!

So funny, I actually owned the BLNR twice. So correct, its a great watch, but is gone now and my 14060M took its place. I have a hard time now with the Maxicase in general.

Sometimes you don't realize it's not right for you until you've had the chance to spend some time with it. Very honest perspective and definitely good advice for people to help avoid getting caught up with what they think they should have. That sub is a classic and looks great, congrats!

Went through something similar and ended up with practically the same watch (4 line 14060m, barely worn, B&P). I really like it too.

Yep.

According to forum research here - on the no date, Rolex left the lug holes and non-SEL bracelet on it until they stopped producing in 2012 to move to the 6 digit references. I too thought the same thing as you, and others asked the same question here.

But it’s a 2011 with engraved rehaut and etched crystal and COSC text.

Same feelings here--the 6 digits are - technically speaking - perfect watches, but they don't sing to me...Don't know why.
I am happy with my 16710. Pepsi and Coke.

Lug Holes are the best.

I actually hate changing bracelets to straps without them.

14060 is Awesome.

I believe the 14060 or 114060 will be my next Rolex purchase in the near future.

Great choice. Got a small wrist also like you and I think that size is about my limit as well (BLNR). I still really love that color scheme though and adore mine. The 5 digit Rolex sports wear much slimmer and effortless for sure, enjoy in good health.

Yeah my wrist is 6 and 3/4. The BLNR definitely fit. And by fit I mean the lugs didn’t extend past my wrists which is definitely a sign of something being too big.

I think for me it was just the proportions. What really sold me was when I got the BB58. I couldn’t take it off the wrist and I instantly knew why. It was the proportions and size. It all kinda clicked.

Jmbarrack, thanks for sharing what you learned. Your post may well advise someone else into not "following emotional trends" and making the same mistake.

I was not impressed with the 6 digit Subs, and as a result of "doing my homework", I ended up with a 5 digit sub and could not be happier. The 6 digit, tried on at my AD (and no purchase, thank goodness), was just not for me. I almost could not believe how much the different the 5 digit was as far as fitment and how it wore for me. (It was purchased after trying on a 5 digit Sub of a friend, and seeing how it wore).

Actually that was going to be my second choice if I didn’t find a later model 14060. From what I’ve seen in photos, that also looks like it has a good wrist fit.

The other problem today is you can’t try half these models on because they’re not in the store. It makes it very difficult to gage sizing looking at others wrists.

At this point, your best bet is knowing your wrist in relationship to Tim Mosso of WatchBox. Because that’s about as good as you can do ...

Great pick up. My 14060M would be the last to leave my collection. I love my BLNR too and it's not going anywhere but the 14060/M is probably my favorite all around watch. Good job reminding folks that the hype doesn't always mean it's the right watch for you.
