Never thought I would be this interested in a gold watch. There is just something about the 1803 though. I going to a local watch shop in the next couple of weeks to try one on. I go back and a forth if it is too gaudy.

For owners, especially the younger ones, do you get many remarks on your 1803? They usually positive remarks? I know it shouldn't matter. I'm just curious on general public impression of the watch.
It happened the same to mee!

I have never heard a negative comment. I am not sure what you mean. The beauty of the Day-Date is that it hasn't under gone major changes until the DD40 came out. The changes it did undergo that would be apparent to the hardcore Rolex admirers would be the move from a pan pie dial and the plexi became Sapphire. The case itself saw very little changes over the years.

Who cares what others say. If you are worried then you shouldn't wear one. Be confident and proud. Rust consumes iron and envy consumes itself.

D.
Anybody who thinks 36 mm is too small is seriously missing out on the party.

Its too bad that the blue always has degradation issues around the outer edges, the lume and around window openings. I would almost be suspicious of a blue dial that didnt have it since 99% of them suffer from it.

Agreed 100%
But honestly it gives the watch some character. And it’s an almost 50 years old watch! Haha

Wish I did. Is that rose gold? I'm guessing 1969-ish...

Best I can do. Not lemon, but not terrible (I posted this on the thread a couple of years ago...):
