Heavy Patina on Tudor Snowflake Sub, how desirable is it?
The example provided is JA Meyer's that's currently in the forsale section.
I'm curious how desirable is Patina this heavy? Is it an acquired taste? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk |

I think everyone has different degrees of patina that they desire... I myself like white plots for the most part or maybe egg shell.

patina is a personal preference, looking at this particular dial I would ask the seller for better images of the to ascertain the quality of the dial and print, there appears to be some dial rot present but it could just be reflections on the plexi, it's impossible to judge from this image.

I love this piece and had to talk myself out of making an offer. The dial will probably have some pimpling issues present - semi-discernible from the existing photos. This may become a bigger issue in time. Or not.
Here is one I have (not for sale) that needs a proper crystal (which was not replaced at service).

I'd buy that for a dollar. I'm not as big a fan of heavy patina but would consider that one as long as there wasn't case rot.

I don't mind certain references with dial rot (i.e.: snowflakes, ploprofs, etc.). But one note to keep in mind: dial rot is a pain in the ass to deal with during service if they need to remove the hands.
Depending on the condition of the dial, you may end up with popped "pimples." A careful watchmaker will figure it out... |

Why the gloves in the pics ? I find this so funny. Like its original Toulouse Lautrec oil.

Nice!
I think the only time I actually lol these days in front of my iPad is when I see the Michael Jackson glove holding an oyster case. |

Looking at the date window you can tell that the watch has suffered from water ingress at the past.
I would be very wary of that and would ask for the date of the last service as well as photos from the movement Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It actually was decent inside in the movement and I had it serviced as well.

I was eyeballing a blue no date a while back with a bubble dial and a medium lume patina....I like the look of the bubble dials.
