1665 Bezel spring question....

Hi All,
I'm having a bit of an issue sorting out a friends bezel and spring on his 1665 Rail Dial SD.

It appears that the spring makes contact ONLY on the underside of the bezel insert, and not on the steel bezel channel, like on my 1680.
Is this correct?

For better understanding, if I remove the insert, and place the spring and bezel on the watch, the spring will pass right through the bezel, and I can lift it out and off the watch, with the bezel remaining to be clicked in place. Seems odd.

My 1680 spring makes contact with the steel bezel itself.

Is there a specific bezel spring for the 1665, that has a slightly larger diameter?

Thank you for anyone who can help on this!!

Andrew

This doesnt sound like the right spring.
In the 1665 bezel there is a thin flat ring from spring metal which should stay in place when the insert is removed when the bezel is on the watch.
Do you have a picture?
