Simply...The Wine Thread

Tonight’s delicious choice. This wine was not as fruit forward as many California Cabs I have had recently, making it a huge winner to us.

Speaking of POPING!! Love me me some young MacDonald!! LOL Screagle killer right there!!

The MACDONALD was pretty tasty, even if it was super young (not going to release for a good 10 months or so). Excited to see what it will be like then.

I was wondering if I could get some help from the wine connoisseurs here. As Christmas is approaching I'm going to get my father a few bottles of wine, but unfortunately I don't drink wine so I know nothing about it.

His favorite is Meiomi Pinot Noir 2016, does any one have any recommendations for another wine which goes a long those lines?

Love this too. I agree it is not a heavy or jammy cab. Took a 2013 and a buttery oaky chardonnay to dinner with friends Saturday night. .

Great wine Larry. There is fruit but compared to the Caymus I had recently, it is decidedly more balanced, IMHO. 🥂

The downside is these will take forever to hit what I consider their prime drinking window......

My family has been selling grapes to the Wagners and Meoimi for there Pinot Noir program for years. Try the Belle Glos Pinot Noir....they have some very nice single vineyard offerings.

Trace, I know we talked about this a while back, but I am always skeptical to ship wine during the summer months as it is easily 100+ degrees here in Georgia. However, I purchased 2 bottles from your family earlier this week. Looking forward to enjoying them soon.

It may be biased, but I fully agree!

These two were just delivered, the wife bought them for us. She asked if I liked Heitz the other day and I didn’t think anything of it. No idea when to open them, but I assume sometime within the next couple years

They were in the wine fridge provide at the place we were staying at. We did pull them out and let them get to room temp prior to enjoying them that evening.

Isn’t that up to personal opinion? Personally, I like mine served a little colder than room temp, but definitely wouldn’t turn down any room temp wine either

When reds are chilled, they lose some of their dynamic structure as well as the depth of the nose and your pallet becomes desensitized

I agree with you especially with big cabs.

Exactly. The lighter reds like a Pinot or a Grenache are not as crucial but the big bold reds like Cab, Petite Syrah, tinnat, etc need to warm up
