would you flip a rolex for a cartier?
ok, i have a newly purchased polar expie 42mm. i like it, but just don't love it. had it in black and sold that too. i think they are both amazing looking in pics and on other people, not so much on me. i just can't love it like i love my Sub C LN. I am looking for something new and i like one of the cartier santos models very much (pic below).
so my question to you folks is: would you flip a rolex for a cartier? A. yes, i realize this is a rolex forum B. yes, i know that i need to buy what "sings" to me and it is my choice. C. i realize that the resale (being a flipper) is not nearly as good on a cartier. D. i can afford to keep both. i don't need to flip. it is just hard for me to justify buying another 6k+ watch that i really don't "need", but really do want. i really hope to love and keep this watch. i hope to love it as much as i do my LN. i am simply curious of your thoughts. being a member of this WIS community, your opinions do help.... already talking to the great davidSW. great price and obviously a great seller. and here is the watch:

No, I wouldn't. Left Rolex too many times and always come back, I can only afford one at a time. In your case, you already have a Rolex and you seem to really like that the Cartier so go for it. I would personally look for a pre-owned Cartier so the hit would not be as bad if you decide it's not for you. I do like the looks of that watch btw.

It's important to me that I like what I have. If I don't like it, there is no reason to keep it. I have a couple of watches, and some are from other manufactures than Rolex. There are a number of interesting watches out there.
However my first luv and my last luv is Rolex. It just fits me for a number of reasons. I can't see myself trading any of my Rolex watches for another manufacture though. This is my opinion, so you need to do what works best for you.

This might be another early April fools joke personally speaking I would not flip a 216570 for that Cartier. In my opinion that is a downgrade, however, as you already know do what's best for you!

Please dont.
I suggest you sip a pepsi, order some pizza, take a seat on the couch and re-think. Go for a GMT or Daytona or maybe go for Gold!! |

If you're an enthusiast, you will have a number of watches over the years... get and do what you want.. just be aware of, and ready to accept the costs involved...

I wouldn't flip a Rolex for Cartier, unless you don't love the Rolex and gets no wrist time. I own a Cartier roadster Chrono and I get the most compliments on it than any watch I own. The only downside to owning it is the resale.
Good luck with your decision...either way you will end up with a nice watch! 😄 |
