Tudor Sub

Ok Guys I have been on the forum reading posts for a while but I think this is my first post ever. I found a guy on facebook that has what appears to be a vintage Tudor Sub and want some advice/opinions. According to the seller the watch currently works but I have not seen it in person yet. I will be meeting him later this afternoon to take a closer look. I only have a couple of pics he texted me for your first look opinion. Any feedback is appreciated!!

You'll need more than that. Looks like a 9315 bracelet with the 380 endlinks. Ideally cracking the case open will show you the movement. The beveling around the crown look legit.

Might be genuine.

I will meet with the guy this afternoon and look at the watch. I will post better photos when I have hands on the watch. Are there specific things to look for that will clue me into it not being authentic?

It looks genuine to me, but the pictures are abysmal - shame the fingers are in focus but the watch isn't... From the one reasonable photo it looks good. Best of luck.

Ok. Just making sure. The second pic is the more important of the pics.

Someone in another thread seems to think it is a mini? Any thought there? I believe it is regular size.

If its a mini, it would say so on the dial and the hands are should be rectangular for snowflake dial.

looks like a standard 40mm case to me - not 'mini' proportions

I am waiting to meet the guy now at a jeweler to get a better look. What should something in this shape be worth? $1500 too much?

I will post better pictures if I buy the watch.

There was a "mid size" version too but the hands are different (like the mini sub). And I believe no crown guards on the midsize either. My vote is that it's full size.

$1,500 would be an absolute steal. Run away laughing, with it on your wrist.

Well I am the proud owner of a Tudor Submariner. I will post pics later this evening. I will not say what I paid because you guys would want to throw me in jail for stealing! Thanks for all the info and I will be posting more asking for opinions on "restoring" the watch and look forward to wearing it daily!

It is going ** need some work based on the poor pho**s - so it wasn't a steal

it needs a service and a new crystal. Figuring about $1200 **tal with that plus what I paid for it. I will take that anyday!! And yes I do consider that a steal considering what I paid plus the face and bezel are blue which I think is really cool. I am working on cleaning the watch now then will post pictures later on.

i say once the crystal get its polish the whole thing will brighten up.
I **o suggest ** take it ** a watchmaker right away ** get the movement serviced but wouldn't get the case polished because the lugs looks perfectly fat and sexy.

The watch is in great condition minus the crystal. I am going to take it to a local watch maker tomorrow and see what he can do with the crystal. I set the time when I picked it up and it is still spot on with my iPhone world clock. that was several hours ago now.

Ok. Now for opinions on what next!! What would you do as a collector/purest/wearer of a vintage time piece? What is the first move on this? I am skeptical to send back to RSC as I want the vintage look/parts to stay. Would you just get a new crystal, Service, and Band from a local authorized Rolex Watchmaker or what would you do? I plan on wearing this gem most everyday and enjoying it. I did find out that the serial number matches my Birthyear! Open for suggestions!!
