Eeek! You paid a thousand GBP over list? I've bought the BLNR 3 times and each time has been at least $1k under retail.
Yes, but you're in the U.S. -- what you paid and what he paid aren't that different. And if you're buying a brand-new, warrantied BLNRs for $1k under retail in the U.S., then that's excellent and you must understand that not everyone has access to such a good price.

Obviously at the moment any SS sports models are extremely hard to come by at AD's, but how long will it be like this? I guess nobody really knows...
I sold mine recently after almost three years of ownership because I didn't bond with it and the hype was getting on my nerves.

What you paid doesn't matter, as long as you're happy.

I think you have a great watch. Collected mine last Friday, 6 weeks wait only, but paid £1k deposit. There is a lot of hype around shortage of this model in the UK but if the AD thinks you are serious about wanting one and not likely to sell it on straight the way and you have a good relationship with them, then I think 3 months would be the max wait.

Some AD's also prefer to sell to regular local clients rather than have lists of people from all over the UK.

If you love the watch and don't have a great relationship with an AD then it worth paying a premium for the BLNR as it could be a very long wait. For the black Subs and GMT I think you can get one within months so there it is probably not.

There have been a lot of threads lately about people questioning paying over MSRP for a watch.

If it brings you happiness who cares. It's your money. Don't focus on what you paid or you will convince yourself you don't like it. If you never sell it it doesn't matter! Congrats on the incoming!

Assuming you paid 7500 gbp , you could flip it easily in used condition for 6500 or better. That's 85% of what you paid -- not a bad situation to be in. You'd take a bigger loss buying an Omega GMT at RRP

We all have our opinions based on the reality in our geographic region. If you wanted it bad enough to pay 1000 over then you wanted it pretty bad at which rate I wouldn't give it another thought and just enjoy ownership. If you tire of it in a year you probably won't get your money back. If you tire of it in 10 years you probably will get your money back. If you keep it forever then it is insignificant and had you not spent the extra on this you would have spent it on something else.

When will the Daytona hype die down?
When will the SD43 hype die down?

I'm looking forward to those two being 50% off on the secondary market

Reminds me of what a real estate agent told me when discussing what to list our house for: Me: What's our house worth? Agent: Whatever someone is willing to pay.

So, you paid what it is worth to you and that is all that matters.

Now, go enjoy that watch!

If it makes you happy and you're going to enjoy wearing it, forget about having paid the extra thousand pounds. There'll always be more money coming your way, and better to use it to enjoy something (within your means) as you never know what the next day will bring.

Just enjoy the watch, its shameful if you only bought it because of the demand.
I wantes it at first sight without knowing the popularity. I am loving it

It's always been on limited supply so Rolex has planned it well.

Yes- I bought all 3 brand new and warrantied for under retail. I did go on to say tho that it makes sense for his market in the UK that the extra 1k GBP he paid isn't going to go to waste since the supply and demand there has been crazy since 2013.

not sure why the hype surrounding the watch. When i picked mine up, I got to select from 3 or 4 and chose the best one (ie aligned bezel)

Rolex has made this watch "hard to get" from day one. I lucked into an available one early on but I have only once seen one on display for sale in a Rolex AD since then, in Hong Kong you can probably find one but you have to ask, it won't be on display. Obviously Rolex are doing a similar trick with the SS ceramic bezel Daytona. It appears that Patek do much the same with the Nautilus. Relatively affordable watches in the respective line ups but limit supply, creating some mystique.

What is a one year old BLNR going for in the US today?

Probably going to sell mine but don't want to go the ebay route.

£1000 over RRP is pretty mad. My local AD gave an approximate waiting time of 2-3 months for a BLNR.

Lovely watch though.

These hypes never die down. I mean look at the premiums being paid for an old coke or pepsi and still surging. The timepieces are so timeless and beautiful people just gotta have them. And those were produced in mass numbers over decades. Enjoy the watch never mind the price paid.

2-3 months?
Please share AD as this could help many people.

They must either get lots of BLNR or don’t have many people on their list.
