Thanks! What makes you think it a refinished dial?

Possibly a legit “vintage refinish”. Before the days of service dial replacements, dealers would touch up a watch dial during movement servicing.

Yes a bubbleback, I had a friend that purchased his bubbleback in 46' or 47'. Looked almost like yours. He was a pilot flying C-47's "over the hump" in Burma in WWII. He was a very kind, gentle, quiet man. It was the only Rolex he had owned and was very proud of it. Wearing it up until his death in the late 1990's. Your watch reminded me of him. Thanks

I’m not a guitar collector but always have loved the sound of a nice acoustic, looks like you’ve got quite the collection! Might be a cool post to make in the open discussion forum, I know there’s a few musicians and guitar collectors on the forum. I know I’d love to see some pics!

Nice watch. As everyone said - it's a redial. The model is not 2940 - wrong bezel, non sweep. It might be 3372, but Tommy is the expert.

It was an estate sale company that was selling everything at a house down the street from me. The watch was on the table in a glass case with some other jewelry marked $1000. I made an offer and bought it.

andromeda160, I would love to do a post about guitars. I will try to do that sometime this week. I have been collecting guitars for about 35 years.

I am going to take it to a watch repair shop latter this week and let them take the back off. But I think you are right Vlad, It does look like some of the 3372 watches I see on the internet.

Not 2940.

it's the sub seconds version of the 3372 and pretty uncommon.

but the number eludes me right this second and I'm away from ref material. It's one I don't use very often so it's hard to call up. If I think of it I'll post. If it's not on the case back it might be between the lugs. Definitely in the case back.

2940 is smooth bezel 2 piece case with sweep seconds.
