Trying on a few grails...

Picked up a D-Blue today and thought I'd try on a few grails at the AD again. I've never taken the PM Rolex plunge, but I want to really badly after this visit:

Gorgeous watches, Tom, but in my opinion they all seem to overwhelm your wrist. Maybe seek out a smaller reference. Also, you are wearing them all on top of your wrist bone, with the crown and pushers basically on top of the back of your hand. This will likely cause some discomfort when bending your hand backwards (try to do a push-up wearing your watch like that).

I also noticed that especially the Daytona and the DD were too big for the wrist. Seems like the lugs hung over the side of the wrist, which to me is way too big. But of course it's whatever looks and feels good to you.

Agree with the other comments. The watches are all great but a smaller reference will be comfortable and flattering. You could get a steal on a 36mm vintage day date and it would look amazing.

I hate posting up close wrist shots because it really seems to exaggerate the size. If only I posted mirror shots since my forearms do look disproportionately big compared to my wrist.

Well most big timepieces don’t fit people well unless they are really large people. And by large I don’t necessarily mean tall. I’m the end it’s just what the individual likes.

Great photos, are the Day Dates, 40? or 36? I also have the same issue with my small wrists any close up wrist shot makes the watch look huge.

Tough crowd here! Have we not learned that up close wrist shots look deceiving and seem to exaggerate size? Maybe I should start posting mirror shots, which seem to add an optical inch...

Of the bunch, my only real grail is the Datograph, of which I would probably go for the old generation. But I'm sure the other 4 are others grails, which was the point of sharing.

The lug/wrist edge test is the only definitive measure, all else is subjective and personal style. Looking at those close up pics, test is passed.
