Sea Dweller advice

Hi, I am looking for advice on purchasing a preowned seadweller. My budget would be $5500-5800 US. Is this reasonable to expect, and if so what year, serial number, and condition should I look for? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Dude, beginning of the year HQ Milton is S.F. had 4-5 pieces all about that range, but now for the last 3 months...very sporadic. Also prices are up...6000 range. Don't know why, but good luck and happy hunting.

Most of the ones I've seen in that range have been pretty banged up. They're mostly in the $6k plus range now as the new model has made people more interested in the originals.

Thanks for all the replies. In general, has the watch had any major changes from say late 1990's to early 2000's?

I think 99/00 went from tritium to superluminova and went to a parichrome hairspring. I'm no expert and stand to be corrected.
