1960 Submariner -5512

I own a 1560 caliber 5512 that needs a period dial.
The original gilt dials with chapter rings are extremely rare and $$$-
and will continue to flake or powder exude radium.
Options for me are an early rare glossy service dial, not a mat service dial.
OR-
a European dial restoration with gilt printing and tritium indices.

Thoughts from the more experienced vintage folks...

Do you not have a dial on the watch currently?

The dial that came with it was beyond substandard and not Rolex original.

I have just today arrived at a solution, while not inexpensive it will be Rolex and
the added advantage of not ever having to make excuses for the dial.

Could also look for a matte service dial with Luminova plots. I have that on my 5508. I like the fact that it has functional lume.

There is someone in the UK that would be able to source a gilt dial/restoration to suit your watch.
The user “French big crown” (or something along those lines) had one done for his 6538 if I remember correctly. It was amazing work.

I'm bit late to the party but have you considered just a later dial?

there are definitely FF 5513 dials floating around for a decent coin. Alternatively, there are also later gloss dials for even better coin.
