Price different

Hi,

I just learned that Z, M, V & G series (initial alphabet) fetch different price. How would it different? for 2011, it has become alphanumeric (randomly generated?).

Shall we ask the AD for the warantee card whenever we know it s not the latest year of manufacture (especially the pcs that has been lying in the shelves for quite awhile)?

All these Internet codes could ever tell you is a approximation when a case/clasp was stamped sometime between X&Y years nothing more. And in my experience most of the SS watches are not at ADs long enough to gather dust. Its mainly the slow sellers like the gold diamond watches etc,but these Internet codes cannot always give a true date of manufacture with these watches. Now by all these Internet codes all they can tell you is when a lump of metal was stamped not when a watch was made. But when the movement was made thats in the case well only Rolex knows that one. These movements are not made to order for any particular case they could be weeks months or year old when they are matched to any case. And when bought new they all get the same two year warranty no matter what the stamp is.And watches of different ages have different prices to any watch thats bought new. At the moment we have the random G plus a few other single letters around and by the Internet code based on sales and seeing the serial at ADs worldwide .We can assume these cases were stamped sometime between the latter part of 2010 till present time and nothing more.Watches are not like a loaf of bread they are not perishable and have a sell buy date.

Well Z case stamp started to appear May 2006 while M started from August 2007.So its possible that Z and M could be both made in 2007.While the V serial started around August 2008 and the G from July 2010 its still possible to have V,G and random all in the same year 2010/11.So myself would not pay extra for any watch just by its case stamp. When buy used main priority is watch condition, its genuine, any service history then negotiate the price. Now if any watch when bought used if say approximately 5 years plus old then it would be wise to budget a service in the price.Today the Internet has placed far too much importance to these case stamps. Just because perhaps its a newer seen case stamp it don't always mean the completed watch is newer made.

what if the watch is in Z series and there is no date stamp on the warantee card? Is it worth paying the price of current 2011?
