Blue dial RO 15450

How many of these are made each year approx please? Does anyone know? I know AP as a whole makes circa 40,000 watches each year but does anyone know approx how many blue dial 15450’s are made each year? Thanks

No one will be able to answer that besides AP and they don’t offer up production numbers. Strictly a guess, not many. Maybe in the hundreds but unlikely much more.

I'm guessing the RO range is the one produced most so I thought blue dial 15450's might be a thousand or so a year

A thousand could be in the ballpark give or take, sure.

1,000 seems high given there are c.200 watches in the range.

But...

Just did a search on Chrono24 and if I look at 2019 AP’s for sale, sone very rough figures suggests...

66% Royal Oak
33% of those blue dial
10% of those are 37mm

So at 40k watches per year, somewhere between 750 and 1,000 could well be right.

Very very crude analysis, but there you go.

It’s nicely sized if you ask me. It completely filled my desire to get a WG 36mm day date.

The blue 15450 isn’t a boutique only reference either... is that right?

I picked mine up from an AD a couple of months ago. Not sure if it’s changed since then though.

Can’t remember exact pricing for pre 2020 but it appears there is a significant increased in price for the 15450st for 2020. In the UK it is 18,900GBP. Can you please check your purchase price with this year?

Comparing to the new 15500 which is 19,900GBP, that’s 1000GBP difference for better movement and new model?

It’s quite a price hike isn’t it! I wonder why they go for less on the secondary market even though the blue dial is so hard to come by?

The blue 15450 was $16,500 when I bought it a couple months ago and soon after was increased to $19,300. A significant price hike indeed.

Worth the money in your opinion?

It’s a great watch. Absolutely love it. I certainly love it more at $16,500 but even at the new price would probably have still gotten it.
