Does Pepsi all look the same?

From photos, it seems some pepsi bezels have a lighter blue, some have a darker blue. Is it just filters or do different batches of production produces different shades of blue/red?

I don't doubt there are differences in shades based on batches of production.

Also, I have noticed the lighting really plays with that bezel as well. Looks a lot more navy/deep red under low light or indirect lighting indoors. Bright artificial lighting or sunlight really brings those colors out and makes them pop.

That goes for all colored ceramic bezels (my green sub has the same effect), but the effect on the BLRO bezel is pretty dramatic. I don't think any BLRO, no matter what mk bezel, is going to be as true bright red/blue under all lighting conditions as the aluminum ones were.

There’s been slight changes over the years that get way too much attention around here, and also lighting….

This. My SA who has sold more than a few BLROs believes there have been three pretty distinct variations since the first white gold ones came out. I would go so far as to say they don’t photograph well either as the lighting definitely changes the appearance.

Well, since the bezel colors change in the lighting, it is extremely hard to quantify anything from photos.

Also the pastel mk1 (my personal fav) is much different than the mk2,3 etc. mk1 is wildly different to the others.

I also feel what we call mk2 and mk3 still pop up in production. They weren’t released in a linear timeline. While the mk1 is long gone….

When these colors were identified on my BLRO they came up as raspberry and periwinkle. I then did the same scope test indoors and it still registered as raspberry and periwinkle.
No joke.

People say there are different generations. I’m not sure I buy that. They all look the same to me. None of them are pure red and blue. I’m sure I’ll get flamed for saying that.

Different batches, different colours, I think that the simple answer, you can get different colours from different angles and lighting.

That is a nice looking example of the BLRO with some bright colors. I’m pretty sure my AD offered me my Pepsi because all the heavy hitters passed due the muted colors where the red exhibits the obvious struggles Rolex has producing this bezel.

No two are alike, but I love mine as it is.

I have compared my BLRO with 3 other BLRO watches at the same time in the exact same conditions. The consensus was the 4 bezels were all a bit different, with some being more different than others. All watches were sourced over a 3 year period. Mine has a very dark blue.

The first photo is by far my preference. I worry if I ever get the call and it's the wrong shade. Not that I will ever get the call haha

I was surprised mine was so dark. I like it and am not so concerned about it looking like a 16710. Someone asked me how did I get a coke bezel. I told them my dad owns Rolex and they made one for me. Hahaha

But....... is the blue hue on the BLRO different than the blue hue on the BLNR?
Or does it just look different because of the opposing color.

To my eye, the BLNR is more traditional blue, and the BLRO more purple blue.

You'd think they'd make then the same blue, but perhaps not.

Regardless, IMO, 5-digit Pepsi faded patina bezel >>>>>> to the ceramic 6-digit.
Only way I'd own a 6-digit Pepsi is if it was WG Meteorite.

In Sunlight = pale red and purple. If it looked under sunlight how it looks in the catalogue photos, it would be perfect.

This is my thought too. The appearance of the blue on my BLNR is consistent/traditional, but the blue on the BLRO seems inconsistent. I've seen two display models at an AD last year with a dark blue and a hint of purple, but a friend showed me a picture of his Mk1 BLRO and the blue looked undeniably light purple.

Sometimes I wish the BLNR had a little more punch (red instead of black), but unfortunately the blue on BLROs is not the same as on BLNRs

This is direct sunlight. Not pale red or purple, at least to my eyes. Whatever, it is satisfying on the wrist. Some early SS and a number of WG BLRO were a bit more pastel. If you like it you wear it, if you don’t like it then take a pass. I still believe the answer to the OP question is there seems to be insert color variations.

There are lots of folks with both and when you see pictures of them side by side, the blue on the BLNR is striking. The blue on the BLRO is always more purple than blue regardless if it’s MK1, MK2, et al. Don’t get me wrong. I do think the BLRO is stunning in person. I’d love to have one.

If you are looking on a screen it is unlikely that any two will look exactly the same. Mine looks different under different lighting conditions.

This is how it looked at my AD.

Any colour change since then is in my mind.

And that is in my eyes the biggest flaw of the Pepsi, they still can’t get the colour right

The latest ones look purplish and maroon, to me. Having said that, I love the look.
