I believe most ADs can usually do 6-12 months financing. But it’s difficult to get if you’re wanting to purchase a limited piece. Has anyone ever opened a credit card just to purchase a watch? What we do for our love for watches...

Yes. I did that to purchase a Tudor Grantour Big Date.

Yes. Took their free 0 % money and paid off the watch in under a year. Otherwise back interest all the way back to the date of purchase would have been 20 %. Which is what they are counting on when they make these offers. That you will go a day over.

I did this last year. Not an expensive model (Exp II), but 30 months at 0% made for payments roughly matching my monthly coffee expense. I didn’t seek the financing option, but the salesman offered it. Most likely because I was dressed, as is usual for me, like a rube. I figured 0% was a no-brainer.

personally i would rather wait until i had the cash and put it on a points earning credit card instead. You make no money on 0% interest if you are floating a free loan to yourself but you make money (in terms of CC points/miles) to pay with a non 0% reward card and pay in full.

Yup.
Last four watches. Great discount and 0% for 24 months. Money is set aside to pay for it if need be but in the meantime, invested, getting a descent return and paying no interest. No brained from my perspective. |

I've used the convenience checks that come with my statement. They hit you with 3% of the total immediately but then it's interest free for a year. The particular grey dealer I go through offers an additional 2% off their already discounted watches if you pay with a check so it's basically a wash....but I get the instant watch gratification now.

I usually use PayPal, that 6-month interest free program, seems to be working pretty well and PayPal does not report any credit or activity to FICO.

Yup.
I was just recently at the Boca Raton mall one and was offered 36 months 0 interest and doubled Rolex warranty to 10 years. Only catch.........no discount. But........lots of SS in stock. In fact, lots and lots compared to what folks post here recently. No BLNR or Daytona C that day but have seen them other times. |

I haven’t. I don’t like debt, for nearly any reason.

me neither especially for a watch. However if i got 0% on a car and i had the money and it was making 8% being invested i would defer paying in full and take the finance. Even at 4% finance i probably would.
Probably negligible gain for a ss rolex in the same scenario.

For a car, I still wouldn’t. What if I lose the invested money? Or what if that investment simply dips? When I need the loot, it’s not there or I have to take it out of the investment at a loss. Then I’ve got this extra monthly expense and no way to pay for it. Once I put something into an investment account, for all intents and purposes, it’s gone. I’ve no intention of taking it out. I’d prefer to pay cash for just about everything, including my house, and then have more money to put away monthly. I try and keep my monthly nut as low as possible.
