I love all your options but I'd be more comfortable wearing the Rolex if it were several days a week

I like the Day feature but I am afraid that it may be too flashy for daily wear.

The flute sparkles so I hear you but it's smaller on the 40 compared to dd2. So with long sleeves not an issue.

Casual elegance? L1

What would I prefer to wear daily?

I vote Lange in WG, but this DD is the only one that would make me doubt, WG and green dial looks awesome!

Lange 1. Any day and every day.

(I know someone who wears it as his daily, too)

I have a white gold Calatrava and therefore tend to get the Lange 1 in rose gold.

Long sleeves go a long way. That green dial is sweet

Different levels of watchmaking

You have to help yourself decide what you're really looking for.

The DD40 is robust (except for the white gold part), is an icon, is on a bracelet for easy wearing, and is "recognizable".

The Lange has exclusivity (Lange's total production/annum for all watches is around 5,000 units, so you won't see many coming the other way), a unique hand wound movement. Some of the very best finishing in the business. An iconic design. Robust enough for everyday office wear.

If you value the very best, then the choice is clear.

The Lange is in a different league. As watches, the two are not comparable, if horology is important to you. If not, go with the Rolex and enjoy.

I'm not a Lange fan, but pretty much anything beats the Rolex DayDate for elegance!

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has worn an ALS, any model, daily for an extended period of time - say five years.

As a 10th watch I'd get the Lange without a doubt. As an only watch, the Rolex. Easily. Horological inferiority or not.

WG DD for me. The Lange is beautiful, but, doesn't fit my lifestyle. If I had the money to have a large enough collection, I would surely be more than happy to add a WG Lange 1.
