What's happened with photo sizing on here?

Sorry guys but I can't find a thread on this (I can feel the flames already ).

Every time I try and post a picture on here now I get a message saying it's too large, even if it's one I've posted before. Why is that?

Anyone know how to compress a photo taken with an iPhone?

iPhone 6S Plus, iPad Air 2, MacBook, MacBook Pro and Dell XPS 13. Most bizarre

Ok, I've had a look in the announcements and feedback section and found the threads. I completely understand why there are limits and, yes, it gets up my nose having to continuously scroll left and right because some images are too big.

I've now loaded a free app to re-size my photos and guess what? I still can't load a photograph because there's too many bloody pixels!

For the benefit of others who may be struggling with this.
I just copy my big resolution photos off my camera, open Paint.net and re-size them in that to about 600x750, save them and then use imgur.com to upload them, then copy them in "forum-friendly format" and paste them on TRF or the other forums that I use.
I am practically computer-illiterate and I have never had any difficulty with this.

For those on iOS devices, I found a free app called Image Size for iPhone and iPad which does the job. Load the photo, tap in the size of photo you want and job done.

I paid an extra 2.99 (English pounds / Welsh euros) to get rid of the adverts. They really do my head in.

Are there no settings on an iPhone that will do the job automatically? Or do you have to have an app?

I added an app called shrink photos. Works like a charm. I also shrink the photos a bit manually on my IPhone.

Having to resize pictures in an app just to post on here sounds like an awful faff!!

Just download Tapatalk for free and use that to post your pics. Much quicker/easier solution.

That is going to become an issue.

Photobucket is stopping hot linking, notice the threads with broken links.

They want to start charging, so the question is where are people hosting that are not paying? I am going to stop using Photobucket as it is blocked for me at work anyway.

For the lazy, the max width is 1050 pixels while keeping the proper height ratio. Just resize to be 1050 or lower to fit the guidelines.

The server side software should just resize your image for you. Why we are resizing them ourselves?
