How many of us are still waiting on their SD 43
I'm just curious how many of us are still waiting on their SD 43 to arrive I put a substantial deposit on mine in June12 . AD says 6-8 weeks out . I bought my air king from them last year. So I do have a relationship with them

There has to be some sort of secret handshake between AD and Grey seller because these things are literally everywhere on sale boards. I was number 3 at my AD but have since withdrawn just a few days ago because I decided to go another route. It amazes me how many people buy rolexs specifically to flip and all these ADs are supposedly clueless.... yea right!

I'm on the "waiting not-so-patiently" list.

Rolex is cranking these out.....AD should be able to source one to you in a week or two..
Plenty of reports of these being in display cases and not even on a list. Easy Peasy... |

I flew home to the US from PTY (Panama City, Panama) last week and the airport has it's own Rolex AD, they had a RSD43 in the display case. So I'm not sure how Rolex is sending allocations across the world, but it's readily available I would presume. When I got home, I called my AD to ask about it, he said there's two people on a waiting list but only about a 2 month wait most likely.

I walked into an AD while out of town and the AD had one in a coffin. Maybe they still have it. US AD so I'm thinking they are getting easier to get.

So just as I thought, this will probably be at discount by first of 2018. Feel bad for anybody who paid $3k markups on this piece if it's already in windows.

Worth the wait - my co-favorite Rolex SS with 116500.
I got mine a month ago and absolutely love it. This will not be nearly as hard to get as 116500, so no need to pay over Retail IMO. |

Prices on the gray market have dropped pretty fast too, they are getting close to MSRP. DavidSW still has one at 15k-ish and it has sat there unsold.

Was on two waiting lists before Basel on the new Sea Dweller hoping Rolex would release it and still haven't received it. Both dealers I have done substantial business with. Emailed smaller dealer 45 min from my house and they had one sitting in their case. Needless to say I grabbed it that day. BTW It's a great watch, fantastic balance compared to any Sea Dweller launched since 2008.

I called my local AD and had a nice chat with a guy who's worked there for 10 years. He said if I put a deposit down they'll have way more ammo to get the mother ship to send one as soon as one becomes available. And when it comes in, it's mine. So tomorrow a deposit I shall make.

I'm not even waiting for it, maybe I'll pick up one next year or even a used one if prices drop further.
SD43 is a nice watch but it's also a polarized watch which turns many away from the bigger size, cost a few thousand more than a submariner and the cyclops. Economy is not doing that well, typical saving is about $2k and middle glass is struggling, Swiss watches are slowing down for past years. Many people are flipping SD43 for quick bucks and cannot really can afford them..That's my 2 cents |

Not necessarily waiting for one, but seriously considering purchasing one.
Does anyone anticipate a significant drop on the secondary market?

There is no question they will settle below MSRP. How far they go is anyone's guess. Somewhere between 15-25% for a new example is my not so bold guess. Don't misread me. You'll likely have to wait years to get to the higher end of that estimate.

Yes. The supply is there and the guys with 7 inch or smaller wrists will eventually figure out that wearing a too large watch is no fun. I expect pricing similar to the dssd (probably slightly stronger prices) in the future.

The availability situation in the US seems to be much better than in most other places. As much as I've read posts on this site of people walking into ADs in Europe and finding SD43s, I basically got laughed out of several ADs in Germany when I asked about availability/ waiting lists. Very limited stock landing in HOng Kong. seems slightly better in Singapore, where pieces are landing, but supply is being hoovered up by VVIPs or people willing to buy several pieces at once...after all, all's fair in love and watch sales.
Thnakfully, this is for me a want and not a need, so I'm content to wait until supply and prices normalise - but I do wish that would happen a bit more quickly! |

Despite pricing differences between countries which add or subtract from demand, the US has the advantage of having AD's spread out over a massive country. Smaller market AD's are more isolated and separated from the large city foot traffic so its easier to source pieces that a big city AD might have a wait list for. In the UK for instance the out of the way AD's are still only a few hours from London so its easier to leave the city if necessary to pick up a hard to find piece and the city demand spreads out to the smaller cities. |

Meanwhile in the UK, they want your warranty card for 6 months... Tale of Two Worlds.

I'm on the list with two AD's. Nothing yet. My plan is to go and check it out when it does finally appear. But I suspect I will hold off on buying until next year when I can get one second hand from one of our trusted sellers on this site. But not buying one from anybody until I can try one one in person.

I'd gladly let an AD hold my warranty card if I could pay UK MSRP. The problem for you guys is that your retail price is low and your currency isn't at the 2015-2016 level (at least against the USD). I'm sure looooots of those watches are finding their way overseas.

I'd like to try one - but gut says too large for 6.5 - however looks decent on some incomings
Of small wrist guys. I would not pay too much for this one for sure |

Be patient. I have a feeling like the DSSD and SD4K, the value of these will drop down after a year or two when demand dies down. You'll be able to get one for around $8k BNIB.
