Which pair do you consider more redundant?

This is what I have at the moment:

I'm lazy and don't rotate much so I'm thinking of downsizing some more and keeping just four watches.

The Lange is rarely used but it's the dress watch, the Speedy is the beater, so that leaves the other three on the chopping block.

The AP is my daily driver and on the weekends I usually go for the PP, so fhe Sub is pretty much a goner.

Now for the actual question, I've been offered a BNIB 5711 white dial for list price and I'm really considering it, the thing is do I use the AP to fund it or the 5167?

Part of me thinks that both PP's are pretty similar in shape (same movement of course) but another feels that having the 5711 and the AP is redundant both being on a steel bracelet.

What do you think?

I know, go with what sings to you, follow your gut... I will, but I'm interested in your opinions.

Once I had the 5711 the 5167 was redundant

I had the 5167 first and then added my blue 5711, I still wear my 5167 more often and think both pieces are very different. Both can easily have their place in a 4-5 watch collection.

IŽd flip the AP chrono in a heartbeat for a white 5711.

I mustnbe the king of redundancy, I have 5711-12 and 5167R, for me a Naut and an Aqua is a perfect pair, but that's mainly up to you, I would prefer the 2 PP

That is tough choice, the ap overlaps with the speedy being a chronograph. The 5711 overlaps with the 5167 in terms of shape and movement but at the same time it overlaps with the lange being white dial and can be a dressy watch.

The ap has blue gorgeous dial and the Kermit is the only diver/rolex in the collection so I think it is a keeper imo.

hence, for me being a big Pp fan, I would end up replacing the lange with the 5711

Good luck

I'd sell the Aqua rather than the AP, think the bracelet redundancy is a mute point. I'd also make the Rolex my beater and sell the Speedy.

Do you really want the 5711 and would the white dial be your choice if the blue was available? If it is a piece that has been on your wish list then get it but don't just buy because it is available.

I'd try to keep the sub and the two Pateks. To directly answer, I'd let the AP go.

Thanks guys, helpful.

The 5711 has been on my list for a while, the blue is the classic one, but the white is more legible and I'd like to have some different color dials.

Keeping the sub as the beater would be nice, but where I live you can't wear a Rolex everywhere and that's where the speedy comes in. Getting a g-shock or an apple watch would solve this one, but I'd rather go watchless than wear one of those.

The lange is not in play as it is the only true dress watch. You need to have one at least for some ocassions.

At the moment the AP seems the one to flip, along with the sub (sorry rolex fans!).

That makes sense. No use for a Rolex that doesn't get enough wrist time

Just got the 5167 and have had the 5711. They make a great pair and are totally different in my view.

You have a gorgeous collection. Adding the 5711 is fantastic.

So,
I'd sell the speedy. Redundant imo. If I had the LV I'd ditch my speedy.
Rolex LV is a perfect do anything beater.
Lange gotta go
AP is awesone and PP5711 is awesome. Both fill in for dress as you don't need a full on dress watch sounds like and are perfect all around for work week/weekend or anything (my calatrava has a date function so much more versatile as a daily business watch)
5167 may be the most versatile luxury/sport watch in existence going from near beater to weekend casual, holiday, or weekday bus casual to near diver, to near pilot

I would swap out patek for patek, personally. But i double the sentiment above that if the rolex doesn't get much wrist time you might reconsider its place in the collection

Here is my 2 cents

Sell AP and Lange

Keep 5167, Rolex and Speedy and add 5711 Blue

This would be a really great foursome for any occasion, attire etc
All very good values

The 5711 blue gets you a blue dial to replace AP blue and can be dressy or casual

Which pair do you consider more redundant?

Thanks for the input.

Obviously everyone has their favorites and many people would rather see the Lange go than the LV.

I have decided to let it sit for a few days and cool my head... all I know is that the Lange and Speedy stay, the rest are in play.

The Rolex is definitely in play and still undecided if the AP or the PP need to go... so basically I'm still in square #1!

I'm a little surprised with the couple suggestions to sell the Lange. Glad to hear you're keeping it. IMO it's the best piece in your collection.
I would get rid of either the AP or 5167...maybe both...but hold out and replace with blue dial 5711.

I wouldn't! It's a classic and frankly is worth so little used you might as well keep it.

About the LV, don't know you, but for 2 years saw the watch, really loved it in real, when mine arrived, must have worn it 5 times, sold within 2 months, couldn't stand it on me, loved it on others though... Sell both LV and AP if needed, get the 5711!!!!!!!!

for me, if the parameters that you've defined are set on concrete, then there are really only a limited number of scenarios available to u.

must be a 4-watch collection, and the speedy and lange must stay.
ok then, for me, removing the AP and 5167 - thereby leaving the collection with LV, 5711 in blue, speedy and lange - give u the most diversity across the collection.

cuz you've limited yourself to choosing from only 3 watches to remove 2. by virtue of that alone, any other scenario than removing the aforementioned 2 would leave u with some redundancy, imho.

The AP is the least reliable option so I'd use this opportunity to shift it and get the 5711 in its place. The LV is going up in value all the time, the Speedy is a great everyday watch, the Lange a lovely dress watch, but the best all-rounder of the entire collection is your 5167; I expect you would quickly regret selling that one, and it's the hardest to replace quickly.

Add that 5711 white dial, keep everything, get up off your lazy butt and rotate the heck out of that wonderful, well-balanced collection.
