Depends what you want. Are you looking for rugged, durable, go-anywhere watches? You have a great collection if so! Are you looking for high-end watchmaking including fine finishing, handmade detailing, and mechanical complexity? If so - the Lange covers this front far better. To be honest, if you go that route though, having a steel Rolex in a collection for versatility always feels like a good move.

You have 3 legendary great watches that are super tough especially the 2 Rolex as on steel bracelets. I wouldn't swap them for a leather dress watch but just my opinion. If you like watches as much as you do ie 3, you'll get bored with 1 the Lange.

I'd keep the two Rolexes, sell the Omega and then save for the Lange

No way I would do the deal. I think you are giving up three great watches for one great watch. Call Lange and ask what a service costs and then call a few Trusted Sellers and see what they would give you on a trade for the Lange. Those numbers should help you make a decision.

No way would I consider that trade, keep what you've got, and look for a pre-owned Lange. Good luck.

In terms of value, the DayC is about $15k, the two month old BLNR is easily $8k. I have no idea about the particular Omega you have. DSW is selling a WG L1 Timezone for under $30k. So with the case, you're giving up $26k plus the Omega in value for a watch worth $30k or less. Is the retail value of your Omega more than $4k? If so, from a fair value perspective, you are not getting a fair deal.

I don't know the value of the ALS to offer an opinion on fairness of the trade.
On looks, I wouldn't consolidate and only have the ALS as my one watch. At the very least, I'd consider keeping one of the Rolex to rotate with the ALS.

Id say the proposition is even from a $$ and cents perspective but unfair from a resale perspective.

15k for the Daytona, 8k for the BLNR, and 2.5k for the SMP (which can be bought new for about 3.3k from JS). That gives you about 26k trade for a watch valued just under 30k (and I am pretty sure there is wiggle room at 30k). The 3k makes up the $$ difference. This deal is a one sided trade from a resale perspective. You have 3 "easy" sales vs the Lange which is a much harder sale. So your trading into a not very liquid piece...

If the trade watch for watch with out the cash upper Id say consider it.

As is no way.

Regards

I'd do it for a Datograph or 1815 Chrono.

But not for a Lange 1.

I'd keep the Daytona, sell the BLNR and Speedy and save.

Thinking pragmatically, I really think everyone needs a steel Rolex in their collection.

I'm a Lange loyalist but would not do this deal. I would let the Daytona go while they're still hot, and buy one later when they're more common. I would take the $15K or so + your $3K and look at finding a pre-owned and simpler rose gold Lange 1. That watch is more than robust enough to wear everyday in a office setting.

That way you have an iconic watch from the top tier in a different colored metal, one of the very best travel watches out there in the BLNR (along with the 5164), and an iconic Speedy that can be a great canvass for any strapaholic.

This is a Rolex forum, so I don't believe you will get many "yes" votes. If used, the Lange watch pictured, I'd estimate its worth at ~$34,000. Correct? I've seen some Lange watches worth more that what I paid for my first three houses. That said, this Lange is on the low end price scale. As an investment, it's a poor deal, if you are looking to own a Lange to own a Lange, go for it, but don't expect the attention you will get from wearing any of the three Rolex watches your are dealing. Most people don't know a Lange from a Timex, but Rolex, it just does't tell time, it tells history. :-)

Concur on the Lange rose gold vs. pictured watch.
