Evaluating a Tudor Sub

I'm looking for a birth year Tudor Sub 7928 and ran across this one. In my opinion, it looks like an honest example, but I'm no expert. I'd guess this has a replacement bezel (factory or not) and it looks polished, but overall the lugs look thick. The dial looks original, but I'm not sure what's going on with the hands. I believe this effect is not unusual for older model Subs (Rolex and Tudor).

The seller wrote me this: The hands and dial do not glow, but look to be refinished.

Anyway, I'm continuing to learn how to evaluate these. Is this dial really a redial? Or does the seller mean it was re-lumed? Any feedback is appreciated in advance. Thanks!

Dial is fake or totally refinished. Either way you should stay away, nothing looks good here.

In was said to be refinished. Too bad I like the overall case quality but I know most of the value of these guys are in the dial Thanks for the confirmation and thanks to the seller who at least told me that straight up

Yes - dial is refinished and insert is service.

Not a bad piece but with right dial and insert would run about 5500 USD so 5500 - 1k for a dial and 1-1.5 k for a Long 5 insert ...

Both members r best Tudor experts, so I will heed their advise. Also the hands had a poor lume job u might take into account. Too much headache of a watch imo.

I blame it on the autoconnect.

He's asking a bit over 3k but no bites. Personally a service bezel doesnt bother me but the dial and those hands...

Thanks for the feedback linesiders Seems like my initial thoughts weren't too far off

The case looks nice though and I've seen a lot of badly worn and polished Subs. I'm not getting this one but are Tudor dials easy to come by? Seems there are a lot more vintage Rolex out there to be had

So you know, the chapter ring dials stopped maybe 3-4 years before the date on the caseback. Study the features on the fs forum here and take your time. You will begin to spot incongruent features of these watches.

The gilt text chapter rings stopped with the PCG in 63 but the silver print chapter rings could be found up to 1966 - probably just I / II quarter 66
