Jubillee for Casual Wear/Short Sleeves

Hi all, thinking of adding back a 36mm DJ. Previously had a 16014 silver dial on jubilee. Want to add a modern version but I would like to wear it in rotation as a more casual watch as well. To me this means shirts with short sleeves. Always thought the jubilee looked a little funny with short sleeves so I am considering a 116234 on an oyster. However jubilee is my choice for long sleeves/dress. What do you guys think. Pic of my old 16014 jubillee which I loved. Am I overthinking this and should I just rock the jubilee in short sleeves as well?

Nuff' said! (I know it's not a jubilee but I'd argue that the president bracelet is certainly similar from a formality standpoint).

I no longer have my white stick 116234, but I wore that watch with everything: t-shirts, polo shirts, and long-sleeved shirts. DJ's on jubilee are very versatile IMO.

Maybe pair it with a smooth bezel?

Jubilee is good to go with any attire. I have been sporting a jubilee on my 16570 Polar of late and wear it to the gym and golfing all the time. Shorts and short sleeves.

The DJ with Jubilee has been Rolex's mainstay for a long time. Most people in the world own only one watch which they wear with everything. The DJ with Jubilee is a definite go with anything watch.

Now I'm going home to binge The Sopranos and in honor of Tony I'm going to rock a silk button down Tommy Bahama, silk slacks and the Pres, for good measure

I don't own a watch with Jubilee bracelet, but the bracelet on my AP 15300 is similar in that it reflects a lot of light as you move your wrist. I wear the watch with polos/v-necks and jeans/shorts all the time this summer!

Remember - the man makes the watch, not the other way around.

Too funny, I just went to the safe to swap watches and I put on my silver stick dial 16234 then saw this thread. T-shirt, shorts and Brooks on...

Mine is pretty much identical to yours but has the railroad tracks...

I say jubilee all the way no debate.

Jubilee is classic, but having both would be great. The fluted bezel with jubilee is a perfect match of styles. At the same time, a DJ on oyster w/pcl and fluted bezel works well. I think the classic option for oyster is the smooth bezel, though.

I don't think there is much need to worry about a 36mm, all stainless DJ with short sleeves. This is a classic and understated look.

I think any Rolex watch and bracelet combo works with any clothes out there. Numerous pictures on this forum plus whats in magazines shows how they all look great, IMO, with clothes across the spectrum from casual to formal. As many have said, wear what makes you smile and makes you happy. Jubilee braceletes are awesome. I think your old watch would be great no matter what you wear. Great piece. Aloha, Tim

In my personal opinion I think the Oyster bracelet is more versatile for being dressed up and dressed down. It makes the Datejust feel surprisingly sporty.
Having said that, my cousin has a 116234 with the Jubilee bracelet and black baton dial. He regulary wears it to the beach, to the supermarket and with a suit, and I think it suits him. I wouldn't say that the Jubilee looks out of place when dressed down.
The 116233 on a Jubilee I think is definitely more dressy. It adds more class to the watch, and if I had a Jubilee on my 116233 I think I would feel that it is more of a dress watch. Having said that though my father has an old DateJust with champagne dial and Jubilee bracelet, he wears it everyday no matter what the attire, and it doesn't matter.
I prefer the Oyster bracelet because I think it suits my style better. If you want to go with the Jubilee I say go for it. I don't think anyone would ask why you're wearing a dress watch with casual clothes. In my opinion I think it's more dressy, because of that I went for the Oyster bracelet on my 116233. But I also think the Jubilee is better suited to an older gentleman.

Jubillee for Casual Wear/Short Sleeves

I've seen plenty of old guys on the beach - big old shorts on, metal detector, chomping on a stogie...Wearing a DJ.

Kidding - sort of.

You'll be fine. I nearly bought a 1601 last weekend...

Can always do DJ41 with jubilee and smooth bezel best of both worlds!

So I used to wear my flutes dj36 with oyster with all kinds of outfit. Used to think oyster was more versatile and in many ways it is, but I haven't put my oyster back on ever since I got the jubilee bracelet. The oyster may go slightly better with short sleeves and casual wear but jubilee doesn't look out of place either. I'd def go for the jubilee.

As long as it's sharp casual wear, it's fine. Fitted t-shirt, dark designer jeans, leather shoes (or at least not your gym shoes) and it's fine.

(Enormous loose white t with an eagle on the front, beat up jorts, and clogs, maybe not so much.)

It's a sharp watch either way (jubilee or oyster); regardless of what you are wearing the watch makes a statement about who you are.

love them both. Really tough to decide. But for casual maybe I would lean more towards the oyster.
