Oysterquartz - anyone wish it makes a comeback?
As the title says, anyone here wishes the oysterquartz gets relaunched by Rolex?

Not really; interesting as a novelty but little more.

A novelty? The OQ references were among the longest-lasting in Rolex history. Not many other references lasted a whole quarter century. Only the Exp 1016 and Sub 5513 that I can think of, and no other five-digit references at all, not even the Sub 16610.

Nope. If I want an electronics watch there are plenty of good ones out there at prices rolex will never dip into.

Sure. It would be great if the line were reintroduced.

I would love it, a Rolex "heritage" line.

The 5035/5055 quartz movements were an absolute work of art. I would love to see a second generation released.

I would love to have one. I was chasing a few, a few years ago... but didn't close on any. Would love one.

It was initially actually the Rolex I wanted (used), until I could not be guaranteed thorough quartz servicing these days.

Not for me. Quartz spoils a luxury piece IMHO. It'd be like buying a diesel Porsche Panamera. To each their own.

In that case hurry up because diesel will soon die, too polluting.
The shift to petrol, hybrids and electric has already started and some big cities are restricting access to diesel cars or planning to. Volvo have stopped producing diesel engines and others will follow suit. |

And for me to buy battery powered watches so they can have the batteries die and be replaced with some frequency would be a waste, imho. No desire. I really dislike battery powered watches. I have quite a few that no longer run due to worn out batteries.

I hope that the Oysterquartz does come back, maybe with something new and innovative, like spring drive or an automatic-quartz movement |

I'm not so sure I'd be a buyer, but If done right, a modernized design with an integrated bracelet could give a Royal Oak a little competition.

Would be very difficult for Rollie to compete with the current Grand Seiko 9F movement but it would be interesting to see.

I am more impressed by a watch company making a watch run using only mechanical parts and the owner's motion. There is something beautiful about that which an electronic device cannot mimic.

If they brought it back like a Citizen Eco-Drive were it didn't need changing batteries might be an interesting prospect. I wouldn't just dismiss it.

I'd be very happy to see the shape and bracelet reintroduced. If they were updated to 40mm I'd be a customer for certain, I'd be a multiple customer if the above gold reference were offered in steel (naturally as a date just, save the DD for PM). Good thread

I have an old TT OQ and I love it. I would love to see a modern version.
