Oyster Perpetual 6581(?)

Hi all,

Does anyone know what this is? The seller tells me it is a Oyster Perpetual ref 6581, however I cannot find any similar watches with this particular dial.

I'm not so familiar with OPs, so is this a refinished dial or completely fake?

Going to need better pictures. Ask seller to remove bracelet and take pictures of the engraved reference and serial numbers between the lugs... looks promising tho. Hopefully thats the matching COSC certificate it’s shown with. That could be the original rivet bracelet too.

I believe the 6581 is a legit reference with cal 1030... circa 1950s so “SWISS” only on the dial.

Hi MorningTundra,

Thanks for your advice. I have received a few more pics from the seller including a photo of the certificate.

I am going to see if I can meet up with the seller tomorrow to get the bracelet off.

To check the cert matches the watch. You’ll need to get the caseback off too and see the movement number. Also check it’s the correct caseback and time period for the reference.

I believe this ref should have flat case sides rather than bowed/convex like you find on later Oysters. At 60 yo, it’s sure to have been polished and the dial touched up during service. This shouldn’t put you off...
