Maybe everyone in his office wears a Rolex and he only has one shot to outdo them....

Those are the Lamborghini, Bentley, etc. Doesn't mean they are "better"....that is all in the eye of the owner & what criteria are important to you.

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head also. That pretty much what I meant.

Don't forget F P Journe and a few other incredibly expensive, ultra high end brands.

Maybe the UNIQUE single watch made each year by the greatest modern watchmaker, George Daniels, is the most prestigious?

There is no answer to your question. It's 100% subjective. It's like asking 'which is the best car in the world?' or 'who is the best sportsman in the world?'

I think the real reason the OP needs to define some parameters is that without doing so the list would be far too long to post......

Anyway Shane, to make the point I would not by any stretch of the imagination put Daniels above Phillipe Dufour......a Simplicity like the one at this link would be my grail watch (of course winning the lottery would be required ).

I'll bow to your knowledge Al as I only read that Daniels is considered by some as the top guy.

To be honest, even if I was a billionaire I would not waste that kind of money on watches...a few pieces that I've always loved (6538, 5517, 6542) would do me fine

What watch is better than a Rolex..........
.
.
.
.
Certainly not a Panerai

Seriously.

I've seen some watches in magazines that are seriously expensive which to me look terrible and if they were $5.00 I wouldn't buy them.

As the others have said,it is the buyer/owner and their personal choice.Even Seiko have some very high end watches that are very worthy of being placed in the catergory of greatness.

What isn't better? Seriously, Rolex and everyother brand from Timex to Patek is equal to different people. There is no better. It is totally in the eye of the owner and there is no right or wrong. For anyone to assume that one is better than any other is wrong, they are all good.

Which of my children do I like better? I love both the same and for reasons that are different and the same.

Is that it? Don't tell me you brought me all the way over from Rotterdam to tell me I 'recognized' them? Remember son, those watches lives are at stake. Don't tell me that's the only thing that separates them from life or death.

Not sure Frans. I've really only seen it a handful of times, and it took me awhile to "get it" if you know what I mean
