San Antonio Vacation Advice?

So the wife and teenage freshman daughter and I will be spending 4 nights in San Antonio right before Christmas. We are planning on staying in Riverwalk area. I have been to San Antonio for only one night on a trip a few years back. I remember the riverwalk being very lively and pleasant at night.

Anyway, I had a question and also hoping to get any general advice on things to do and eat etc. My first question is if it’s worth it to rent a car. I see that it can get very expensive to park a car in river walk area. I calculated the cost of car rental and parking and gas for the trip would be around $300-$350. I’m happy to use ubers etc if it will be cheaper or just more convenient (at similar cost). Basically, are there sights far out of town that are can’t miss etc? We spent about 3-4 days in Austin on that trip I mentioned earlier, so no need to make that day trip.

Thanks!

The Riverwalk is nice. I’d suggest staying at a hotel on the Riverwalk. The Alamo is a must see due to its history. With that said don’t expect much. It’s takes under an hour to see it. The best steak house I’ve ever eaten at in 47 years is called Bohanana’s. You must eat there!!!

I was there for five days.
Had a blast in River Walk.
Lots to do in the area.
Never needed a car.

Last time I went was years ago, had a blast and didn’t rent a car. Enjoy your trip!

Since 2011 been to San Antonio over 30 times for vacation. You can pm me if you have any questions but here are my suggestions.
The cove: unique restaurant that’s at a car wash but the food is all natural and great. Long lines during the weekends.
Bohanans: the best steakhouse in sa and order the off menu akaushi steak. So good!
Palenque grill: best Mexican restaurant in the us. Amazing deals during happy hour.
Tower of the americas is pretty cool to do. Neat museum and a great view of the city. The Alamo is cool to do and free. Most museums are free on Tuesday’s after 3.
Austin
Via 313: best pizza hands down.
Since your going with your wife and daughter last call is in Austin and they have great deals. San Marcos outlets is about 25 mins before Austin. There’s a famous wall where you can graffiti on it.

Do not need a car. Riverwalk and Alamo as other suggested. Cool restaurant on riverwalk called Boudro's. They make a great guacamole at your table. Fun place. We liked the areas so much we went back a couple times. Good golf too.

Agreed, no car needed. Uber is always available for short rides. It’s a good time to go with the Christmas lights on the river walk.

From the River walk you need to eat at a local Tex-Mex. restaurant that has been there since I was a young boy:

Mi Tierra in the downtown area
Steak and family tradition is Josephine's close to the Pearl Brewery which has several good restaurants. You can also look up- SanAntonioStephanie on Instagramwho is a food blogger and my daughter......

Enjoy......Happy Holidays.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Looks like it will be a good trip. Might have to pick up some cowboy boots while I’m in town!
