Wear gloves like these during weight training sessions, it covers the watch entirely. I never scratched a watch at the gym and the profile of a Rolex is low enough to fit under the strap easily.

You will do more damage changing plates, and re-racking Dumbbells. Than lifting or showering

When you leave your previous destination, lock it in the glovebox, and take it back out after you have left the gym lot. This way nobody sees you put it away or take it out while you are at the gym.

This is a good plan, but I'd go with the trunk.

Owning a Rolex shouldn't be a source of too much stress.

It's normal to be concerned with your stuff, but you've got to find some balance.

The watch shouldn't control your life.

This is why I have a ton of lesser watches that I can wear for all kinds of activities in all kinds of scenarios.

If I have concerns about the expensive ones, I've got some that I like just as well and no one in the world would give a second glance and if they get banged up a little, no big deal.

Well, it's not even a big deal if my Rolex watches get banged up a little. They're built tough.

I lift regularly in the metro area and would never wear my Rolex at the gym. Don't need it on, probably would get in the way, and it may also get unwanted attention that could ultimately get your car or locker broken into.

Insure it. Lock it in car. Done.

My "gym" is the great outdoors! So unless riding my mountain or road bike I'd wear it. Too risky on the bike but anything else is fine. I'd just insure it and leave it in the car if you don't want to scratch it.

Yep - cellphone, watch, wallet, jewelry comes off and into a small zippered case and straight into trunk before driving to gym.

Also did this every time I was playing tennis/softball/basketball after work. Just easier all the way around.

I recently out a gym in my basement.

But before then, I took it off, put in my bag, and always kept my bag with me. Never had problems.

It is inevitable that certain movements will require you to take your watch off. Especially if you use kettle bells.

I think the bigger issue is dealing with the crowds who suddenly want to get in shape for the New Year. Usually have to endure it until February before things thin out again.

Whatever you do, don't shower with it as it's only rated to 300m....

Insurance probably differs from country to country.
But over here insurance regardless of insurance company never covers ANY item left in a car, even if it's hidden out of sight.

Just a notice to check the fine print of your insurance policy, as locking something in the glovebox for example can be a very expensive mistake.

Assuming that your car is worth just as much as your watch, probably even more, I have to ask the question: what do you do with your keys?

If it's good enough for your keys, it's good enough for your watch.

Get yourself a really good lock, put in the locker and work out, I can't work out with any watches or rings for that matter.

When I start to sweat the metal band starts to 'stick' and gets uncomfortable. I leave it in the locker or car... Not a big deal to me I've never had problems.

No Rolex but when i exercise with a watch, i take the steel band off and put on a NATO. Much more flexible and less strain on the wrist. I've had the steel band on as well, but i still prefer the NATO.

Agreed. No point at all. Use your phone if you need a chrono.

Leave it in the trunk. If you're driving a Mercedes sedan, the trunk is basically like a safe when the car is broken into. No way can they open the trunk from the inside or from the outside if they don't have the key.

Wear a sweat band over your watch to prevent banging it up, don't worry about the shower, watch will need it!

I would never leave it in the locker since somebody has stolen money out of my purse - he got caught, a real story. If you are afraid wearing it, use the sweatbang our a belt bag. Though you also look also old school :-)

Change your routine and head home before hitting the gym. I don't wear mine in the gym I wear a casio. Between scratching, denting and possibly cracking any ceramic depending on which watch you have I don't see the point of wearing it in the gym not to mention the increased risk to others and youself by having a metal hazard on your wrist.
