But my goodness, the Lido struggles here and it really constitutes slumming it till the NZ arrives! (Lido is great, btw, for filter coffee, but ill-suited for espresso I have learned.)

Gotta say: the steam pressure from this Profitec is incredible. It’s been six and a half years since I quit being a barista, and this machine really challenged me to make silky milk. I am gonna go buy four litres of the cheapest milk tomorrow and just find my way with it again. Failing that, the steam pressure can be adjusted down, but who wants less!
Congrats on the new machine! Let us know what you think about the niche/Profitec after you get a chance to mess with it.

I have a Sette 270wi and kinda regret not having the patience to wait for a Niche. I've been happy with the performance but would've liked how a quieter machine that could also switch between espresso and pour over.

It super easy. Espresso, Kahlúa, and Tito’s. Shake it up with ice and pour it in a glass.

Ever since I had a kid and we have organic whole milk by the gallon I’ve been enjoying full fat lattes and I’m not going back lol

Nice.

Nothing beats straight up full fat milk for me. I drink a litre a day of that stuff, hopefully I won't develop lactose malabsorption

Hi Albert. Finally picked up the Niche Zero grinder after ordering it a few weeks back, and it has been a real joy to use after weeks of hand-grinding 22g at a time. It is nicely built, looks good, is pretty quiet, and very consistent and adjustable. I am getting beautiful shots now without having to cut them early. This is the first domestic electric grinder I have owned, so I can’t compare it to others, but I am happy with it. Was $1300 Australian.

Hope everyone is well.

That's pretty cool. I could use some AI to figure out my coffee needs. Nothing more painful than running out a day or two before the next bag arrives. I've had really good luck ordering online from Caffe Lusso. They roast your order right after you place it and same-day ship out to the customer. Takes 2-3 business days to get from Washington state to Michigan. As long as I place my order Mon-Wed I'm good.

Just got a bag of Ethiopia Sidama from them, so damned good. I usually go South American, but wanted to try out some African beans, these do not disappoint

It doesn’t matter anyway, but that’s not so bad!

I am curious: those of you making home espresso, what recipe do you use?
- dry weight of beans
- yield of shot
- time before shot drops
- overall shot time
- temperature?

I keep my temperature stable at 93 degrees Celsius but might see what change 92 makes. I change my recipe depending on what beans I buy. But currently going through a locally roasted blend of Colombian/Ethiopian by weighing 19.5 grams in, and pulling around 42g out over a longer 34 seconds shot that starts to drop at 8 seconds. It works with these beans but is different to other recipes I’ve used.

17.0g in
30g out
7-8 seconds preinfusion at 1 bar, less if I see first drops earlier

Not sure what the temp is for mine.
