Crash...

Hi,

So, as my first post, I am curious if anyone can help with my concern.

Can't wait 30-35hrs to find out...

My 3 1/2 yr old just threw my Oyster Perpetual Datejust across the room, crashing to the floor.

It's not sounding right - the self-winding mechanism doesn't sound right.

Anyone have any experience with the durability of the self-winding mechanism?

If it needs to be repaired, does anyone have similar experiences, and what was the cost associated with this?

Thanks!!!!!

Well, if you can hear the rotor, I'm guessing that it will need repair. Rolex rotors are usually silent.

I'd recommend that you pull out the stem and put in a safe place until you can get it to a watchmaker.

Good luck.

Well there could've been a good amount of damage to the movement or the rotor in the crash... I would advise driving to your closest Rolex AD and having them check out the watch. Pull out the crown to stop the movement as well to prevent further damage.

Thanks!

Pulled the crown out. It was due for a tune up anyway I guess...

Well, she was taking my blood pressure with her doctor set and the strap didn't fit around my wrist with the watch on, so I took it off.

20 min later, she has turned the sofa into a trampoline. during one of the jumps, she discovers the watch.

I asked her to bring it to me, and she threw it across the room.

Think I may have inhaled all the air in the room when it was flying across the room.

She of course was smiling.

During explaining to her that I was really unhappy with her, she looked at me and told me that "Daddy, you have to relax your body, ok..."

Had a difficult time controlling my laughter when I waqs trying to be stern.

Thanks again for your input.

But what is this nast going to cost me?

The watch was purchased during a previous life when money was not a concern. Now it is.

Service at the RSC is $450+ depending on the model I believe.
