Goodbye Rolex

It is hard to be a "good customer" when you will not sell me a watch.

It is hard to be a "good customer" when your sales agents turn over and the
relationships you spent time building are not cared about or passed on by MGT.

It is hard to be a "good customer" when your store is so stuffy and the staff so snooty.

It is hard to be a good "good customer" when you have to beg to spend your hard earned money.

So to Rolex it was fun for a while but now I must bid you adieu

I understand your frustration. These are the same reasons I only buy used 5 digit Rolexes that are available at relatively reasonable prices with immediate delivery from trusted sellers.

There are a lot of people on here who got a decent Rolex model as their first purchase. It's not always about spending hundreds of thousands of dollars before being offered a Rolex unless of course you're after an off catalogue piece.

Don't show annoyance. Try establishing a rapport with a senior member of staff.
Learn the names of staff. Be friendly. Visit frequently. etc etc.

I agree wholeheartedly and did the same some time ago. It’s just not worth the effort required. What a shitty way to do business.

Amen. I'm with ya. I don't bother with Rolex anymore. I have the two I want so I just look at other brands now. I don't want to deal with the games anymore.

Wait, what? Be friendly I get, but I need to learn their names? I need to establish a rapport? Seems like that’s very backwards. My son sells high end cars, if he took the Rolex AD approach he wouldnt sell anything - and, the cars he sells are +$150k. People ask for him and repeat buy from him because he caters to them, not the other way around.

I love my Rolexes, but bought both of mine second hand. Im 100% sure that I never would waited and been ok with the crap that I’ve heard about AD’s. I contacted the Denver Rolex AD to inquire about a new Sub and basically got immediately snubbed - so, fortunately I have a friend that sold me a like new one. Ya, I paid over retail, but… it’s done and I have the watch.

Welcome to the club. I give up a new Rolex 15 years ago and start buying independents instead. I have never regret it.
Rolex is Rolex but beggin them to take my money is not my style. Waiting lists that the dealer do what he likes with. Now the
dealers crying when they have no watches for sale.

Karma.

Play the long game, and win. Don’t buy anything you don’t want and then buy everything you want when the madness ends. It’s just a matter of time. It’s a watch after all, not food. You can wait it out.

Yeah, it has got a bit ‘arse about face’ as we say on this side of the pond. Having worked in a professional sales environment for over 30 years I do find it galling and have ceased trying to buy anything new for the time being.

I would give a bit longer. The craziness of the market is probably over where people buy anything they can get their hands on and have to have every watch.
The willingness of people to pay over retail is declining which will lead to loss of value on watches which can only help to limit sales to folks who really want a specific piece to wear not just to collect in a box as an investment.

Is the point of this post to just publicly express how pissed off you are or that you hate the brand now that you can’t get the watch you want??
Diversify your collection, you’ll feel better.

Rolex, Ferrari,or Patek Philippe for that mater. If the price falls out of favor, then what decides the sale?

Return in six months. The gray market could be 10% below retail at this rate.

This is why I ended up buying a pre-owned Rolex instead of putting my name on a list at an AD. I didn't want to wait. I was ready to buy one at that time. Even though it was a DJ, I bought it used and it looked brand new. Haven't had any problems with it.

Go Gray, go pre-owned, go somewhere else (i.e. diversify). This is what I have done. I still have a couple Rolex and have some interest in the brand, but the last few years have turned me off as a die-hard fan, to just a fan and honestly somewhat indifferent to the brand. I'm also turned off by the fact that you can no longer wear a Rolex to many parts of the world without fear of bodily harm. That alone is a turn-off for me. I contemplate selling the few I own, but I would likely miss them at some point, so I will keep them for now. But I am quite content and happy with several other brands. Bottom line, Rolex has lost at least one previously loyal customer.
