I think it looks a little odd. Is it authenticated by an AD?

The old movement have second hand at 9 and the second hand and minute hand is EXACTLY on a 3 and 9.

The new movement have second hand at 6 and the hour hand and minute hand are a litte above 3 and 9.

Your Daytona have second hand at 6 BUT the hour hand and minute hand is EXACTLY on a 3 and 9.

I am NOT an expert though.

Guys! I now have ONE HUNDRED % PROOF that this IS a FAKE.

Reason: The subsidiary dials at 6 and 9 are NOT "moved a little up" as they should be as compared to the predecessor, the Daytona ref. 16520. On the pics provided by David ("Brownoysterdj"), you can clearly see that the subsidiary dials are PERFECTLY centered to the 6 and 9, and they are NOT supposed to be centered but moved a bit up towards the 12. On the FIRST pic you very clearly see (due to the chronograph hand standing EXACTLY at the 9 o'clock marker) that the subsidiary dial/"circle" is 100 % centred and NOT moved up.

CLICK HERE TO READ/SEE THE DIFFERENCE

So let there be no doubt about it: YOU BOUGHT A FAKE.

Now, if you did not KNOW it is a fake, and paid the "normal SS Daytona price", I would definately demand getting your money back. And if do in fact know it is a fake, then just wear it in good health and enjoy it, but don't tell us it is real!

I love this guy, I really do.

200+ posts and I sussed him out in the first 10. I still love the posts though. They are cringworthy yet compelling.

BTW - Here is my new watch from somewhere. Is it real? I used a 12 megapixel camera.

IMHO, we have now made it perfectly clear that the "SS Daytona" - in this case - is more likely the name of a steam ship called "SS Daytona" than it is a watch from Rolex Watch Company Ltd. And that steam ship just SUNK, didn't it??

I don't see the point of ridiculing David, however. So why not just leave it be and move on?

Dave, I want to make it clear this post is not to break your balls.

I did a translation from German to English of the link that Bo gave. Dave, I think there are some discrepancies you should get to the AD to look the Daytona as soon as humanly possible...

Clear precise pictures would have helped but these guys are sharp.

This is eduational. From what I make of it in order to have a Daytona with the Circles to sit on the Centerline of 9 and 3 the watch had to be made prior to 2000. This was due to the changover to the newer movement from the Zenith Movement. One discrepancy is the fact that the Hands on an older Daytona should have squared off ends instead of the pointy ends on this watch.

I'm not 100% sure of the 5 minute markers being thin instead of the wider markers with the rounded interior on the newer Daytonas. I think I read something about that on this website on another watch that was asked if it was real or fake.

Gentlemen, are there any other discrepancies?

COME ON....do you guys really think he had no idea! He was threading this forum a while ago with a picture of a fake daytona figuring if it would pass or not. Let's get real. Every single post this guy wrote has been stained with flagrant lies and deception. I said I would not rag on him today....but man oh man why is this tolerated! Can't blame a guy for trying ONCE...but time after time is pretty much like laughing at us. He blamed his last purchase being fake on the dealer! Hey could happen to pretty much anybody....but who in their right mind buys from an unknown a SECOND time. He knew and that's for sure; Anyone who says different 'cause they don't want to ruffle any feathers is being a (edit..). I have always called it as I see it and it has served me well, both in life and business and I ain't about to change my ways. Once a liar always a liar. Yeah I said LIAR.

I have to agree. This person for some reason has come on here and tried to pass off his fakes as real. I don't know what motivated him to do that. I don't care.

Glad to have some closure to this.

Your fine. The light as shinned. I did try to defend your position though, but the thread was deleted which was a good thing.

Remind me not to buy that 12mp camera. I always thought that a higher mp count was better.

BTW: I bought a Sony compact digital camera ("Cypershot T25") this afternoon Danish time.

It is an 8 MP cam.

But is has some kind of extra macro focus function! Damn, it is nice!

I just took a pic with it in the store to try it out, and it took me just 2 secs to have a SUPER MACRO pic!

And before you start asking:

the sales' assistent was blonde
yes I did take a macro pic of her cleavage
won't post it here!

In fact, you can put the cam almost directly onto the object to photograph and get one helluva nice pic.

Once I have read the manuals (I HATE reading manuals!! ), I will post some more pics of my Sub Date.

And NO BED SHEETS! I promise!

Hey bed sheets are ok...as long as someone at least attempts to include a decent picture of one's watch.

p.s i have the same camera in black...great little picture taker.
