Real/Fake and How much is it worth?
Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum, and just need some expertise. An old friend of mine passed down a rolex to me a couple years ago, and I need to know if it's real and how much it is worth. The glass on the front has been broken and the knob on the right is missing. It still runs and looks very clean though. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks |

Definitely 100% fake. The dial is not good at all. There is no cyclops to magnify the date. I'm not sure if that's a tiny winding crown or if the triplock 703 emulation was just a total fail. It's definitely not a 700 or 702 crown tube. My guess is that the back may be transparent. That watch looks to be broken... no winding crown... so even the cheap Chinese movement inside is in a state of disrepair. I don't want to sound harsh on this, but that watch may be worth like $5.00 US. Not $500. $5 - but they are illegal to sell. It is a federal crime and also a crime in most states to traffic in items bearing counterfeit trademarks. If you try to sell it, you might be selling it to an undercover cop who will hook you up with handcuffs and take you to the station where you'll get charged with (depending on the state) a serious misdemeanor or a felony. The FBI wouldn't get involved if you tried to sell this watch, but local cops scour craigslist for these things and will arrange to meet with you. You might only get a citation with a promise to appear in court, but it is serious business. You could incur thousands of dollars in attorneys fees, time in jail, loss of job due to the time in jail, loss of place to live due to loss of job and time in jail, loss of all possessions due to eviction or foreclosure caused by time in jail and loss of job... Fakes aren't worth it. I hope this info has been helpful. Have a wonderful day.

The glass is called a crystal and the knob is called a winding crown.
The watch is a fake, so it has no significant value. Welcome to the forum. |
