Paid full retail at my AD for my BLNR...is this common?

Picked up a BLNR last week from an AD. Paid full retail plus tax. This watch was not in stock anywhere around me for the last few months at least. My AD knew i wanted one and called me when it came in. I was so happy that one became available that i didnt even ask for a better price. A guy i know was giving me a hard time tonight saying i should always expect 15-20% off MSRP when dealing with Rolex ADs especially as repeat customers. Any truth to that?

Discount off popular stainless sports Rolex at ADs is a fantasy in the current landscape unless you are a big time repeat customer/VIP.

Definitely don’t expect any discount on watches you need to be on a wait list for. My brother had to pay full plus taxes for his BLNR just to have one reserved for him to claim when it came in lol. He didn’t even have anything to take home after payment and he received it 3 weeks later

retail is the new trend... on SS at least. Your friend has old info.

What’s a discount?
On popular sport models those days are long gone
unfortunately...

Yes sir, especially considering it's a Batman.

That watch will sell itself, they do not need to give discounts to sell it.

(Some pre owned shops are able to sell them at 1k over retail, easily might I add).

Technically the BLNR isn't a sports watch...still, the responses so far are spot on, it's virtually impossible to get any discount on the popular models.

Maybe if you bought a few PM models with it simultaneously.

If your AD could mail the watch to your out-of-state address, you might not need to pay the sales tax, which was equivalent to a discount.

Paid full retail at my AD for my BLNR...is this common?

In 2012 I got a SubC out the door for $6800. I think it was $8k or $8250. Can’t remember. Shipped out of state to save tax. That store has now changed hands and even when though they knew I purchased a lot of jewelry there the watch discounts went bye bye. Why I use Trusted sellers now. Times have reallly changed. I remember in 09 turning down a 16610LV for under $5k. Kick me now....

I bought a Deep Sea Deep Blue (in Germany) some weeks ago, no chance for a discount. The AD said: You can buy it now or I can place it in the shop window where it is gone within 10 minutes...

Why would they give you a discount when they could sell it at full retail to someone else? If you said no, someone else would have said yes 15 minutes later. By the way, I have a friend like that too. He always acts as if he gets 15% to 20% off of everything he buys, and I know he’s full of BS half the the time. LOL!

Getting a discount on a 116613 is a lot different than getting one on a BLNR. One sells at a premium in secondary market the other at a deep discount so no comparison.

Only discount could be when you pay cash no credit card so the dealer dont have to pay fee to the card company.

It's going to be rare to see a discount on one of the most popular SS models. Also, it's a luxury item. Pay to play.

I'm probably classified as a good customer at my AD and paid full retail for my BLNR. My "bonus" was getting the watch the next day after requesting one.

Expecting a discount on a hot product just isn't the norm.

15-20% off a BLNR? What is he smoking?

You'd be bargaining hard getting that on a DJ.

Tell your friend you got 25% off then take him to an ADs and watch him try to "negotiate".
