Yea, that kind of discount is in Omegaville. Rolexvania is a completely different country.

does 'guy you know' have Rolex watches he purchased from ADs?

I recently paid full plus tax for an LN- just the way it is right now

Frankly, it seems the other "direction" is true. i.e. paying a premium for BLNR given the short supply.

In today's market it's quite common to be paying full retail on SS Sport models.

Congrats on a great watch at a great price! You're not getting it cheaper anywhere else. You can't even find a used one for MSRP. Zero chance you're getting a discount on a BLNR, SubC, or any other SS sport model, and anyone who says you're crazy for paying MSRP for a BLNR hasn't purchased a Rolex for quite some time.

Retail on a BLNR is nearly as good as a discount these days!! You did well to get hold of one in the first place.

Congrats on an awesome watch!!

Why would they discount if they can't keep it on their shelves? I bet they are upset that they can't charge a premium.

I just picked up my BLNR this past Saturday with no discount. I did get a box of chocolates though, so at least there’s that.

Wow! That sure as hell beats my 6 oz mini water and bite size Reese cup they had offered when I got my BLNR

Gray market & Trusted Sellers here are all over list so I think you did well.

If any of the dealers I am waiting at call me, I'd pay full price + tax today without a second thought.

This model is getting harder to come by as well. My AD said it sells itself. I purchased one last week and paid retail plus tax.

I paid sticker as well for my BLNR and consider myself lucky to have stumbled on one sitting in a display at the boutique. It’s already done, I hope you didn’t let what your friend is telling you ruin/lessen your enjoyment of your new purchase!

Didn’t realize how lucky I was to get a Daytona at a discount last week

Not unless this guy is a senior executive at Rolex.

Have a look around what the BLNR is going for these days.

It does not matter anymore since you got the watch already. Your friend can move you wrong if he can buy the same watch from another AD right now with a discount. Also if the rumor is true that Rolex is cutting down production on Rolex sports watches then for sure no discounts in the near future. Important thing is that you are enjoying it.

Your friend hasn’t bought a popular SS Rolex in a while I would bet.

Enjoy your new watch, you did well

Your friend, no disrespect intended, is living in the ancient past. You did well, wear your BLNR in good health. The only discount strategy with an AD today on a popular model, other than being a known, proven, and volume Buyer, might be to offer to pay by bank/wire transfer or cash. Then seek what the AD would have to pay if it was otherwise transacted as a cc purchase back as a discount.

I paid MSRP on my BLNR when I bought mine 2014.

It was the first one to arrive at the only AD in New Mexico.

I didn't mind at all.

That is pretty normal right now with supply tight. Enjoy your watch. I paid retail at AD in June 2017. They were already starting to get hard to find.

Yes it’s common. The only way anyone is getting a discount on SS sports right now is if they’re giving the AD lots of business and preferably buying PM watches. They might do a little something on an LN GMT or black Sub and stuff like that but none of the really in demand models.

For what it's worth I got 10% off my brand new 114060 just this past Monday at a local AD.

Rolex has accomplished one of its aims - being able to buy a SS Professional model at MSRP these days is the new "discount" and "deal", as opposed to 20% off in the old days.
