And the 16610?
Thanks, Larry.
Would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison, maybe even feature versus feature, against the current Rolex 16610 Submariner Date. Er, that is to say "current?" I guess: Anyone know the status of the 16610? My local AD said the other week that there haven't been any available to come in for a while now. |

No SubDates to be had here neither. We did see a COSC no date at the last GTG a few weeks ago. I bet its gone now...

If I had to choose my 16610 at the price I paid which was about $4500 two years ago this month and this new one at the new price which is about $7000, hands down I would choose mine and pocket the difference everyday.. I do think that this watch is WIN though...

For me that's an easy answer. Lack of unidirectional bezel (I actually dive w/ my watches and need a unidirectional bezel), lack of timing bezel (I actually use the timing function on a daily basis) and more importantly for everyday use - the incorporation of the Glidelock clasp. Those are the top 3 that jump out at me of why the GMT-C can't be considered the 'perfect/complete' watch.
That said, I've got to believe it's only a matter of time before Rolex incorporates the Glidelock into all their sport lines of watches, but as long as the GMT still does not have one, it will take a backseat to the Sub IMO. ![]() |

What are these actually going to sell for when they finally start showing up in stores here in the US?

I would expect the initial price sheets to show a price slightly above $7k..........

I dive with my watch as often as I can, but in reality, 99% of the time my watch is used on dry land (just like 99% of other owners I'm sure). The extension system is used a ton more in my day-to-day activities than in diving and I know if I owned a GMT equipped w/ Glidelock I would use the feature just as much. The Glidelock is TOO GOOD IMO to be restricted to only diving watches. To get back on topic, I must admit this SS Sub, while not a surprise, is everything I hoped it would be. ![]() Cheers. |

Yeah, but will they actually sell for that much? I imagine when they first become available there will be those willing to pay a premium, but we aren't talking about a particularly limited run here - where will the "real" price point be?

I'm going to put my LV on right now ...because I know it's upset at the thought of any upgrade....and I want to let it know that it isn't threatened in the slightest!
Thanks for the pics and specs larry....personally...I think the new Sub SS is a huge improvement ... but not in terms of the LV...which is a relief!
